Air vents from chimney brests

Thermal boards ?
Made box to slot in fireplace opening. Dried flowers or something would go in. Used thermal blocks to reduce size of opening then plaster skimmed. There was a small water pool in box from condensation every morning and it was winter. I made small vent in fireplace side wall as hidden and water stopped.

What you think if it was thermal boarded

dont put a vent in and see how it goes, if you get a damp breast, vent it, easy as that. thread closed.
tapit tip no.34.
You need a chimney vented bottom and top. Becouse chimneys get batterd whith rain the moisture that goes in to chimney needs to dry. The idea is to get air circulation going otherwise it going to get trapped in ther. Told you before stick to selling stuff

Just read your post on lime render and agreed , think their is a common problem with these posts and replies . many theoretical " bodges " work fine in different areas of the country ( climate ) , not always enough info to form an acceptable approach .
