whats aspect of plastering / rendering do you hate most? jesus for me its gotta be skimming over an artexed hand turned cove.does my head in. was doing it today. thought id be finished by two but finished at five. still left a good job like. i mean wtf is a hand turned cove all about. something to do with thermals if i remember.

Sorting out dust sheets and flitting from one job to another which this month is a regular thing. Chopping off loose plaster or pulling down a lath/ plaster ceiling which i have next week, mixing outside when its pissing down. Favourite is boarding ceilings. :)

Even with a quality mask i get chest pains after taking these down, its only a pantry @ 3m but it will be horrible. Will be fixing on new riven chestnut laths, then 3/1 extra haired lime left to cure before 2/1 finish so will post some pics.

Going home and getting paid are particular favourites.
I do like external s&c render and a bit of quality skimming and I don't actually mind f&s if I can use tuffcoat and not that eggy trump flavoured hardwall.

Sand and cementing over bad block work. The standard of block work in Ireland is terrible.

Skimming a freshly boarded ceiling that has gaps between the joints, screw heads hanging down not fixed properly or bounces.

Nothing worse than thinking you got a nice set on fresh plaster board then that happens.

blocks in the netherlands are dovetailed, they joint them on ceramic tile adhesive and they are spot on, true and straight.

I really dont get tape and jointing... I know @TonyM does it and from what i can see does it really well but it seems like a lot of hard work

tape and jointing is very slow compared to skim. they run from site to site like blue arsed flies a couple of hours here a couple of hours there, brain dead!

It's s**t. Four applications to do a decent job. Tape up, then two coats of joint cement, then sand it. The finish on the joint is different to the paper finish on the rest of the board. I always like to seal my work so it's ready for decorating. I f**k**g hate it.

Having to bone the lonely housewife where your working cos shes "not getting any" and enjoy the look on hubbys face in a morning when shes made you a brew and full english while she hurries him out of the door ;) errr hang on was it stuff we like about our job??

I hate shouting for more gear from top of scaffold to dopey laborer who`s standing by blaring radio then not hitting him first time with the empty buckets !

Dont want to damage labourer to much its one of the most important tools in the van when sharp enough ! :rico:

Peeling spuds and you find a black bit under the skin, you try and just peel through it and end up losing half the potato [emoji31]

all aspects
I took the lath and plaster ceiling down and found this old cigarret packet, on ebay they go for £3.50-£7. :envidioso
