OK so i made a start on the arch way to day, first i took down the plasterboard on the inside to see what i am dealing with.
Big problem the old arch way is higher than the ceiling in the patio and wider than the pears to the old door frame!
so would need allot of messing about time effort and money to put it back how it was. so what we did was copy the next doors and revel the arch way but box in the inside. Not the best but much better than whats there before. I took some pics its all prepped up ready to go now, used a render bead for the arch buy cutting it loads to make it bend and dabbed it on with straight cement, the F*UCkin camera stopped working so i will add the new pics of what we build 2Moro!

That looked so crap so i ripped it all out and am now doin the ply each side to make a new arch way.. top coat on wendesday!

Right ho, the former looks good. What's the plan of attack :), Fill one side, then move the former to the other side, and fill. Then fill underside in next day when edges are HARD ?

that timber in the pic is boxing in to hide all the crap under the arch, the now look is timber both sides fill centre the take away and top up sides next day

while i got the pics on here wot do u fink to my last job.. old dry walls so i 5-1 pva the pva/bonding agent walls

So you are going to cut 2 pieces of ply with the curve in them then, fix these to the sides, then do the underside first. Then remove, and do the sides ?.....Other job looks good, more pva though me thinks, Looks like you got too much uneven suction going on. :)

i wanted more suction so i can get the set done in good time! and yes del thats how im ganna do it.. ill add the pics a.s.a.p

The arch, couldn't it just be done free hand, the bricks had already formed the shape, it's just a matter of following the curve and tidieing the angles with a small float and midget trowel?

Wats the best way to achive that finish on bull nose corners with multi finish do u just use a black plastic bag? or does it need trowelling as well?

thanks

If it's a proper bullnose you want you can get a bullnose external trowel which work well.

OK here is were I'm at now! dint look to bad from here! And the black sheet is just to stop the rain.Wait till i take it all down! any tips on taking it down? i used cooking oil on the ply cuz that's all she had in the cupboards!

Is the face of the arch flush, with the face of the building.......Looks like a lip all the way round, if it is cut back flush using your trowel. Then make good........I know alarm bells will be ringing,( might damage the edge ), but it is better than leaving it as it is, and trying to feather the lip in, and it will look shyte :)

could you paint it as it is to get the sandyness down a bit on the the new cement then use car filler, sand flush, then paint again with a longer pile roller. Bit unconventional but it's waterproof etc. and sands away to nothing and cures in minutes too.....just a thought!

its is flush Del mate.car filler humm fink it would still show diffrent material, i got sand and cement in the van so might as well lob it on!

fair play oasis that was a bitch of a job........can you still mark the lines out or will you be buying an angle grinder ;D

i always say dont judge anything until its finished tidy it up a little and a spot of paint and youll be fine oasis i dont no if you will have heard of bagging before its when you mix up s&c dry and put some on to a cloth and fill out any small impurites?? in the wall just a thought

ok nice tip.. yea this is one hell of crappy job.. ill post the final finished pic next time I'm bored of my own posts now! and nah i dnt need ta grind it already took it back
