Aye it was mate. And if you go and look in the Tarbet hotel you'll find more outstanding examples of my work :RpS_tongue:

Remember when he was in the chinky havin a sit down meal pissed out his heid, talking to some nice ladies trying to impress them & he phoned us up & when he rang jj he put him on loud speaker to speak to them & he shouted Casper was a G** loner :RpS_lol:

Strange place Scotland, backwards enough to still have hotels being Artexed and yet up to date enough to have spreads using machines.

The key to patching a comb pattern is having a comb that's at the same stage of wear as the one used to do the original ceiling.
A new sharp comb used to patch a ceiling done with a well used comb will stand out like a sore thumb to the trained eye.

I've sanded the points off new combs to match the pattern before Andy.
Like you say the grooves would show up different.

@Nisus I remember him ringing me to tell me about his watch collection whilst sitting in a pub eating his favourite tomato ketchup crisps

i think he had blown his own cover when he said he still does artex.............:RpS_wink:

For Circle pattern start left to right firstly putting a full with of comb across the ceiling. Hold the comb at approx 25 to 30 degrees from the surface and make a consistant 180 degree sweep. Continue this motion but overlap the previous sweep by approx 25 mill until the opposite side is reached, but make sure it is finished in either a full or half stroke. Always look horizontally through the work making sure its staying level.
On approaching ceiling roses etc, continue as before working well past the fitting and then drop back and comb the feature in . If the room is coved you can finish the work at the end of the room without having to use a small feature comb as the angle of the cove will let you turn the comb fully.
Thats how I does it folks.
