Looking for advice, do you think it's a bad idea to work for a plastering firm as a sub contractor? And how reliable can the work be with them ? Thanks

the trouble with sub contract work is low rates, tax stopped every payment, pay your own fuel, you will be left with about 3 days wages for 5 days work a total waste of your time.
you will not build up any contacts, miss out on the nice little earners that come along. when you get laid off you can only turn to another plastering contractor. why paddle some elses canoe?

Wether tax is stopped every payment or not it needs paying at some point, give it a go and see what happens is the best advice.
i would sooner have the tax in my pocket then in some one elses. if you know what you are doing you can always do a deal with the tax office.
