Yes that would be for one of those sites that are 90% polish/Romanian plasterers right?
If this is a one job prices are double what there getting I reckon

I dont know any subbies getting over 25 a metre full system.
if you got the contract and subbying out then yes be bit more

I know one thing i can't make money and leave a good job at the same time on those rates ,everything is rushed with no care,on my own jobs it takes us nearly 3days just to board it ,rub down and bead it and thats on a 3 sided semi to do it right,i went past a site last month and lads were just tidying up, that was 6 o clock on a friday night f**k that and the weather not getting any better !

There are Europeans on these sites but the guys I know are friends who have not much option than to work for those rates as they are pretty much standard round the Midlands, as said above the only guys who are getting £25m2 are they subbies at the top of the chain for full system the ones who " I can't pay you this week cus I ain't been paid sorry" c**ts. There's another one for yeh c**ts section lol

I have to pay everyone at the end of the week at the latest. The two I have at the moment need paying daily as they are too skint to wait until Friday. But as I am the only one who can pay on a daily basis I have the upper hand on rates. They can get slightly better pay on a local job but have to work all week, submit their measure then wait two weeks to get paid? They cant afford to work a week, wait another two weeks then another week for the cheque to clear. How do the now majority of workers on monthly pay cope?

I cannot think of anyone at all who has worked for me in the last 34 years of business who would tolerate more than 1/2 a week in hand at the very most. Most labour only spreads I know are rock bottom skint! If they was any good at arithmetic they would be better off throughout the year working in a factory.

£25m2 is not bad if you have something to go at though. I could make it pay. But I have the tools and equipment. Most spreads only have the mpst basic of tools, I invest to make things easier and productive.

Agree mate, I thought it was just the lads I have. I pay good money on Friday or Saturday every week but by Wednesday need a sub

@Rigsby...think you must have the patience of a saint mate!!!

No it used to make my blood boil and still does to an extent. They have no money management what so ever. Lab quit his£80 a week Council house because he couldn't stand the neighbour to rent a house at £125 a week! Two daighters who won't work and sponge of the bank ofmum and dad. He cant afford dinner. I bought him a Full English last Wednesday and he was so grateful. Other idiot gambles so no patience for him.

Had a subbie I traained 10 years ago begging for work. Found out he is on heroin and homeless. Slow and useless, he had to go. Think he lives in a Ford Transot now. He prefers the drug life.

But it makes me grateful for what I havegot. Always go to the Cinema at this time of year and watch 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Make you grateful for what you have and how important your family and froends like Les Lord, Leeroy and others are important to you. God bless them.

ive never met you @Rigsby...but can tell yer old skool and a gent!!!

its all good karma mate in the long run!!!

the irony is theres lads on here and elsewhere who would fight to have the opportunity you've given your lads...though they will never know how fortunate or rare opportunity they have had!!!

to say its been wasted on them is an understatement buddy!!!

The heroin addict has benn doing ewi for the last few years on Council house refurbs.

According to him £18 for full system labour only is the norm around South Yorkshire. He was going round collecting scrap for £25 a ton last week. But it cost him£20 in diesel a day to get a transit full?

What drugs can do to a person.

I think £18 / m2 is a price fixed by most competitive big firms , especially in south Yorks . That's why most subbies stay where they are these days . Unless you do go down south and try to pick the good crops .

when ever we can not agree a price on ewi we are told not to worry as they can get teams down from the midlands, put them in digs for less money!

I have had the pleasure of meeting john (Rigsby) and you are right, he is a old school gent and a family man,a wealth of knowledge on all render systems. I also feel lucky he see me a friend [emoji106]he's a top guy

£25 m2 is pretty much the norm most places now , all right on semi or detached but terraced houses its wank with all pipes and that especially how contractors cut corners on scaffold 1 lift 3m on ground floor .
