End of day we are here to make a living.ive done it from scratch so it passes me off a little when I see guys doing it that way as it isn't the right way.essex Andy dots reveals after which 4 me isn't right but he strings a chalk line along ceiling which I take my hat off as I couldn't be arse with with that tbh so his wall is bang square.do u get what we mean when we say how do you go square on your beads if your over hanging them? It's 1 way or the other

My point was no one cares...I've never met a customer who gave a shite other than their room looked nice.....I don't work on 10 million pound houses just normal working class semis and detached in a subsidence area where there houses are totally f**k*d out of square

It's alright Andy wanting to ping chalk lines everywhere but you do that on a nottingham 1930's semi you'll make it look dog s**t....you'll take all the windows out and the frames out and your customer will be asking why the f**k did you do that to my house....and I'm sure Andy would stand there and say I'm right but it's not real life

Yes but on a 1930s cottage do u not think windows have been changed? Thing is when some1 fits a window do you think it's leaning in or out Inches? No.it would be mm..so do ur reveals to highest point then your wall is plumb.how cam u square ur wall of when u overhang the reveals? Not a dig but it's impossible

Hi all,

Any advice on becoming a plasterer at 40?

Not in a position to give up my fulltime job so would need to learn part time. Any advice would be great.

Also interested to hear about physical demands. Obviously, at 40, I'm no spring chicken, but am relatively fit. Generally, is it something people are still doing in their 50's/60's?

Thanks
I did 6 week course at GoldTrowel at 47 years old, been at it now coming on 3 years a fell in with a couple of time served spreads. Still learning quicker ways of doing things but do a lot of my own jobs too.

What will really make a difference is the passion of the instructor if you go down the course route. I went on a tiling course and it was a drive-thru mentality. GoldTrowel I was lucky enough to have had an instructor who would spend time after the course each day doing like a Q&A and everything that was taught came into play in real word situations.

I say best of luck to you mate, go for it.
