was sat watching TV last night with my little lad when gets a text from pm telling me got to go on to price work no more day rate thought fair enough so replies fine but i think its only fair that im paid up to date with day rate money then can start a fresh etc starts being a nob after that going on about prices and costs here and costs there , reply's mate its half 7 on a sat night im watching tele with my little boy who i only have on weekends can u please leave it til Monday etc ,
he gets right hump on then saying if i don't give him prices there and then he got 120 lads waiting for work , rito youth u get them then
and im the **** for not sorting things out price wise etc :RpS_cursing:
sodding sick of this crap think i goin smack the git in morn get my tools in car and sod off home after he has sorted out why i aint been paid AGAIN grrrr am i in wrong i ask thee ?
 
99% of project managers are tools, he was in the wrong but unless you got other work to go to you'll have to take it up the arse,
The **** is probably right about having 150 other guys waiting, so up to you mate,
either work under a prick for a while or chin him and look elsewhere,
Depends on money as usuall i suppose.
 
Ner marra, i dont think its unreasonable to get paid up to date on day rate. Think he;s pullin ya pisser about having 120 lads just waiting on the bat phone ringing. No point smacking him. he sounds the type to get you done. keep calm and try sorting it out. If not get ya gear and go home. If ya a good spread you should get somemore graft (hopefully)............:RpS_thumbup:
 
If he texted you on Saturday night that's when your new contract was first proposed so he's got to pay you your day rate prior to that I reckon. Sounds like another outfit in difficulties anyhow so start looking for other avenues mate:RpS_thumbup:
 
i have another job to go to pal full house reskim was going to do it on saterdays etc but can drop on to that what pissed me off even more though is the company is advertising for a plasterer on books wtf? and i bet 99.99% wouldnt put up with the crap i do on the sites we on crap in way all time nowt ready half the time rooms not cleared out so u have to do it yasen etc right grinds my gears
 
be very very nice to pm m8,tell him thats fair enough and you will get on with sorting a price and wait while he pays u up.
when hes paid you what he owes you put a hammer through all the work you have done just for ruining your time with ya lad!
then tell him to get someone else. this aint the way forward mush but there are to many ***** trying to squeeze us yours case is a prime example.sorry to be so brutal but i hear this all the time nowdays never happened in early 90s

a project managers job is to rip everyone off, including the client so that he makes as much money as poss for the contractor that employes him. daywork is costing him more then he thought,he may have got another plastering contractor to give him a price for the work. the reason he wants you to give him a price so that the co. has a final figure. your job is to make sure that the price you quote covers all the work that is left. if he is trying to backdate the daywork make sure that you have all your figures availble to yourself. it sounds like you have been playing with the big boys!
 
what gets me is iv done loads of work before for them and was on books once with them i do it on day s**t day rate cos its reg work and they give me loads of it but just recently started bein T***s about stuff and already said to him if u think i doin it on cheap price rate ya got anotherthing coming he didnt like that got right monk on lol and he knows how much they owe me they not big boys amte ether they just a little property firm trying to be bigger than what they are lo.
 
With all due respect malc there are few big boys in this game, just brown noses. Everyone is kissing someone's else's arse. Most jus play at it.

Happened to me in feb this yr, it's a ***** trick.

Demand your paid what your owed, And tell them you will removed any works not paid for. I did it and got 90% of what I was owed.

i have only seen a project manager on large industral contracts. never on housing. the type of work that i steer well clear of now
 
You have done it all wrong mate. The fact he text you saturday night was a warning shot over your bows I would have of left it till Monday and then had a chat with him. In the event it was urgent he would have spoke to you, and not text. Bit late now seems it is monday.
 
the way it is round here is

main contractor
to
plastering contractor
to
some barry big arms who knows 300 s**t plasterers and 4 decent ones, drives around all day doing feck all, trying to impress people they dont like with money they haven't got
to
the subby

usually the barry big arms that chops and changes things to maximise his own profits
