Best course of action ?

Just been to see a small job for a pal of mine - its a downstairs entrance hall to a couple of flats but the outer doors dont fit very well and so the entrance hall appears to have been exposed to the elements somewhat - One of the walls has blown plaster, blisters I can poke my fingers in through to the original S&C and all over there is a mouldy damp residue

Can someone please advise as to the best plan of attack - I was thinking of battening the walls and then screwing vapour shield board to them ???

But then this doesnt cure the damp, merely hides it - whats best to do lads ?

Cheers

Most damp membranes dont cure it they simply hold it back, like the oposite to a swimming pool.

Use visquine behind the battens.

But would this be an acceptable way to do it Nelly ? I cant cure the damp ?

Well yeah. It's the same as tanking out a cellar, you cant prevent the soil on the other side of the wall being wet but you can create a barrier that prevents the ingress of the water.

It may need proper damp treatment, I dont know I havent seen it, I am speaking purely about the plastering side of it.

Whats on the other side of the wall?

cant the doors be fixed/sealed properly then take off blown plaster dry out and re-do? if the elements arnt getting in then surely it would be ok :-\

As above get the doors sorted first theb remove and replace plaster with s+c with waterproofer

heres the problem with forums the newer system such as delta membrane are a bit more complicated than screw a batten to the wall with a bit of viscreen under it anyway bladderd so fooooook it
