Best trowel for coating

Looking at those photos, that is an identical layout to my house where I need to plaster over stippled artex right above the stairs, no idea how to do it

In a world now where we have 44564524 trowels to choose from and to use at different stages of the skimming process, what trowels do you actually use to first and second coat. Seen so many different methods and became curious. Do you stick with the trusty old Marshalltown? Or do you have some other preference for application?
Mt 2 tight coats
Flex does the rest....any flex as long as it's 18".
When the weather drops 1 coat.
If I 2 coated in the winter I'd go mad staring at 100 metre hits.
 
I thought this thread was about best trowel for coating??? I tend to chuck it on with a shovel and trowel it with a rake!!!! f**k ‘em where’s me money
