Bit of advice ?!

In theory lodan is right cos I have done that once or twice just got a coat on to kill suction then start again but if on a tight price it won't be viable I'm still sticking to my option of getting my tools and never going back, plastering is hard enough let alone getting grief over auction thinking I'm losing money and the finish is crap,

You can see it now in a few weeks a thread will be started by persons who's house it is

IS THIS PLASTERING ACCEPTABLE

Then we will all say it's crap gps will start with his way of proving if it's a real thread then we will go off track and never find out the out come

Thanks for all the replys !! Really helps me ! As said the p.v.a even 2really good coats just not standing up to it , the price is tight as didn't foresee this problem as I find overslim slot easier as you have more time then board in my opinion so I can get more on , it's gone off so quick in sum places I have had to do walls twice to control the suction , customer just looking like it's the normal as he thinks he can do a bit of plastering he did his splash back and I got to re-do it as it looks like it's sling shorted on ,

SBR is helping by the control suction ! Can leave a good finish

Can't you explain to customer what's going on, I used to just try stick to what I said I would do but after a chat with a good few blokes gave me the bollox to actually stand up for myself and say to customer look I'm finding these problems which is slowing me down and costing me money,although at times can take a hit I think this is a case where you gotta stick it on him say to get this stuff and a few extra days prep is going to cost x amount after a bit of back and forth I'm sure you will get a few extra quid out of him,

Yeah mate I was thinking that just I don't excel in that area of renegotiating i haven't got the silky smooth talking skills maybe a lady but a lad not so smooth

The customer is really happy with the standard but Its taken longer and working twice as hard to get that finish .I can't leave bad work as my town is very small and it would damage a good reputation I have built up already for myself

He just don't understand the grief and he never will as said he thinks he's sum what experienced in the trade from doing patching which I have to go over again

Mate it's a mare when your in your situation I had one two years ago I prepared a hall stairs and landing really awkward I pva the night before good two coats and when I went back next morning and started on big wall the pva came back to life was all sliding on me and I kept trying to save it which as you know it never happens I kept thinking why do I do this job and was a real low point as I didn't know what to do,looked for advice on here and spoke with a few spreads I knew and the noise was you gotta ask for more money and bond it and charge for the 2 days lost and for the bond it I had to explain to woman what was going on and in end said look it's a bad surface to plaster it's going wrong but have an alternative and this is what it will cost and you will get a pukka job for the sake of x amount she agreed it and job then came out well, just bite the bullet worse bloke can say is no then you go pay me up til today then find someone else get your tools in van and go there is work applenty out there so you won't struggle for some work

Bulldhit baffles brains I like that ,
And that's my daily motto work smart not hard the amount of labourers I have had to say that too is unreal but still they don't get it .

Yeah it's a s**t situation but SBR is holding it off a lot more then p.v.a and easier on the arm too now thankfully

I can't have a labourer they ask first thing in morning what time we gonna be finished stand around on there phones have to say do this do that when after 3-4 months they should know I'm better off alone

Bet you did, so when 2 coats of PVA won't hold it back you throw a tight coat of skim on which will be sucked dry like an 18 year old in Amsterdam on his first trip, cracks to f**k then PVA the cracked skim and skim it again? Just asking like

Op never said skim was crazing...i suppose if it was suction to the point of crazing would need to get a tight coat of backing like @gps said
