blocking up doorways

Take the architrave, frame, the lot out. Use blocks to replace and cover with Hardwall. Then skim walls both sides. The Hardwall should be solid enough to stop cracks. Failing Hardwall try Bonding with cement in the mix, about half a shovel of cement per bucket.

The only drawback I have found with adding cement to bonding is it goes off quite quick. But this time of year you should be fine, just be cautious in the summer. The Bonding with cement sets like rock and I think it is stronger than Hardwall.

Using stud wood in doorways always runs the risk of cracking due to gaps and such.

Dynamite are you really a time-served Plasterer?
You go on about knocking skim up and it weakening it in one thread and now you're adding cement to bonding

It sets to fast to adhere properly, it cracks too I'm sure everyone as done it to get away quicker but it's not done to make it set like rock like you think

Depends on how much u put in.
People use dirty water to make it set quick also if you knock up stiff skim that can set to quick with the same affect

I myself have done nearly every trick in book, I dont know them all but after 34 years I know quite a few, and bonding with cement will crack it sets too fast to adhere and too strong for its own good, and I have done it and will do it again, but not to make it hard as rock as dynamite was saying

U must be putting far to much in I've never had a fail with it.

Just paper tape it!
If it's done right it won't crack.
If you leave the timber frame in it will as your skimming over the timber

There is some comical stuff on this thread [emoji16]
Why would anyone leave the frame in?
