Boarding done by seperate company

Sorry we've disappointed you best of luck with your search.

I have to go to Devon in a couple of weeks so Southampton would be a good rest stop ... Are you doing breakfast too?

No conclusive answer then. I'll get some actual quotes and see what happens.

I wnat a lot of soundboard so in theory a company that does a lot of boarding may have access to cheaper materials - as I need an entire house doing so it will add up to a lot of board.

I am based in Southampton if anyone knows a boarder.
Just because someone gets board at a good price doesn't mean they are going to pass the discount on to you. Why should they? Do they owe you something for you asking them to price your job? The whole idea of being in business is to make money, not give it away to somebody that you are probably only going to do one job for.

i would be pretty fast at boarding as i done a lot years ago before tacking became seperate trade ha but i dont bother now i never found it to be good money no mater how much u done or got per board allways could make more plastering theres a guy in my area that supplys and fits hes got a van load of polish guys that he pays funk all so i let him do it

Any plaster worth there salt should be able to do the whole package people who just board in my eyes Arnt proper tradesmen 95% of plastered I know can board 0% of boarders I know can skim

Chaffing a bit, which @Nisus would have a shave :(

He's been trying to get rid of his tan lines because you didn't like them. I did tell him that the customer's garden in posh area wasn't really suitable for nude sunbathing. The old couple next door aren't going to press charges since he offered to "stretch her puckers". I'm not sure what that means, but I am certain I don't want to know. :endesacuerdo:

No they dont have to pass the savings on to me but one of the advantages to being/using a bigger company is that they can save because of economies of scale - I found this with my boiler.

If I used a company that did a lot of boarding the chances are they can get materials cheaper than competitors anyway so its an advantage for them.

My missus wanted a boob job so I had a look around but it was quite expensive. I am now waiting for Tesco to start doing them it will save me a fortune innit.

@TonyM can you get coupons off the interweb? I got my missus as a doer upper but want to save some money too ... I sent her to elocution lessons with some polish professor it was cheap like but now she says culver! All the time!

There's coupons In the back of the Daily Sport.

I couldnt board n dab as quick as lads doing it day in day out.

They would make me look a donkey.

But id wipe the floor with them floating.

Id make them look a giraffe.

The Tesco analogy is not that far off...

yet again it smacks of the customer telling the tradesman hows best to do the job and as a guess,to dictate cost!

Its actually plasterers telling ME it may be cheaper to get a seperate boarder in because it may be cheaper.

Clearly if the same job can be achieved by utilising 2 traders and for less money then why wouldn't you consider it.

Anyhows, I have found some businesses that do specialise in boarding out fast but none I have found are local to me.

Bit of a long winded subject...but..

Rang up 2 places to get quotes for skimming and they both asked whether I will get someone else to do the boarding. They said they could do the boarding if I wanted but they also seemed happy for someone else to do it and did not insist they want to do it (incase other person balls it up)

Having looked into it, and spoken my some other tradesman, it appears that I may be better off (financially anyway) employing a company that specialsies in boarding - the idea being they will quickly and efficiently go round the whole house boarding it up and I save money on labour costs.

Does this sound right?

I think what I wnat is a drylining specialist- but when I search my local area for one all I am finding is normal plasterers who offer boarding and skimming so I suspect they will want to do the lot.

Is there any particular type of tradesman I should be looking for here?
i subby for a dry lining company, let me know is you want details, its quite a big company with big contracts

I can't see how it's gonna be cheaper you are gonna deal with two firms meaning two profits rather than one firm with one profit.
