M J Hester from Leeds did all there houses with paper tape.We used to soak it and put it on with a twitch on internal angles and ceiling lines, stuck like sh.t to a blanket. Then they moved with the times and supplied fibre tape (skrim)
Is this true? The s**t I get for ceiling cracks now and again, will start using it if so.Paper tape is 7 times stronger then scrim. It's a far better job

Give that a go then, especially on the crack going right through the middle of the ceiling that is the joist span that I normally get the blame for.CheersIt's true

Bg makes the tape,,,saint gobain.
Fiba is 25% stronger.
They spec it.
Its available because it is consistently stronger than fibre, unless you know the spec of the tape you use.all fibre tapes do not have same strength. There is no need to soak them in water. If there is no need for paper tape why is it available?
Sorry if I've missed something here. What would you say is stronger, paper tape or gyproc fibatape? Its available because it is consistently stronger than fibre, unless you know the spec of the tape you use.all fibre tapes do not have same strength.
Thats why cheap as chips tape do not hold same strength.fact.
Been using the perfect finish one this week flipping mint but did fray slightly (got to be honest) but I worked out if I pulled it really fast it didn't fray ,got 3 rolls left of that (hoping it gets better) just ordered more of the blue one I like that one.Bg say some of there fiba tapes are 25% stronger than paper joint tape.
Other brands I don't know spec.

25 % better than paper @theclemo
Probably,,,,Are there a range of paper tape qualities. If so, which is strongest? Looking at a big crack in an artex ceiling right now, thinking of paper first with scrim on top.
