Personally cant see how it achieves a flat finish due to the size and flex in it .... rather stick to a 14'' plazi ....sanding nicks out of plastic that big... no thanks and its game over if you drop that rascal ...
Have you tried spats?? Spatulas?? Will pm you a deal I got off eBay :RpS_thumbup: I used the 600mm one on these skim over artex ceilings and was a big help but each to their own ??

No m8 - have looked at eze and refin-a ones but to be honest im happy where im at now.... s/s tyzack for putting on .. quick flatten with speedskim them tyzack (on 2nd) then plastic all the way ...... yeah pm me m8 as always open to new techniques etc

@Marshy is that actually a leather handle on that s*p*r*lex just looks like a dirty wooden handle on a new trowel, would be nicer if it was leather bound like the kraft trowels, i like that little bullnose pointer they sent you thats the sort of handy tool id keep in my bag knowing one day its goin to be invaluable on a job

The pointer is also a bottle opener :RpS_thumbup: the handle does feel good but I disagree with "leather bound" as if Estwing hammers are anything to go by they tear and rip off eventually. The leather handle on the s*p*r*lex reminds me of my old well worn wooden handles of old, may sound daft !? But I mean a comfortable "feels right" sensation if that makes sense?? Not used any of the gear yet due to the dispute on here but I will ask @Dannys permission before posting a review

If you can stand the constant maintenance of a s*p*r*lex there isn't much not to like!
Mine sat in the van for weeks (can't be bothered with breaking in trowels) until one day I decided to get her out. I just knew straight away it was a beauty, and finished perfectly straight out the box.
I'm just not getting this "sandy finish" malarkey? Been using them 18 months now, with a glass like finish on demand.

Chuck 2 coats on with a shovel, wash out & let the s*p*r*lex do the rest.

What's your method scottie? ie 1 coat flatten then top or two coats straight off. gotta be honest I'm close to binning mine

I use a m/t to scratch on and lay in with the same gear @beddy I dont bother flattening between coats. Twitch the angles. Depending on how big a gauge will then flatten with either the speed skim or just get on it with the s*p*r*lex for 3 dry trowels. If I can work out how, im going to try and film and post a video next week, cause photos dont really help a lot.

Hope you get round to it Scottie, this topic is crying out for a video :RpS_thumbsup:

Constant maintenance you wash it and sling back in the bucket.

I don't believe you;

A. Sling it anywhere
B. Keep it in a bucket

I keep mine in a leather wallet on the dash out of harms way.
I used to keep the plazzi there too until it melted in the sun last summer ... heard of refina spats doing the same thing also.
Present plazzi falling apart nicely & looks like it will be scrapped with most of it's blade life left.
My refina gauging trowel broke after 6 months, my refina splash brush fell apart the first time I used it, my refina spirit level tells a different time if you turn it round & my click clack float sponge snaps the locating lugs when I try to swap sponges.

To be fair the 2m straight edge is a belter. :RpS_thumbup:

Some of you guys seem to be in denial of the shite robustness of Refina tools.
