hi im from widnes way nr liverpool i was booked on a course in a mnth but had to cancel due to price but would be willing to pay someone to teach me to plaster skim up ive done some boarding i just want to really plaster and would be very grateful thanks mark ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

the return of the underdog! alright mate. ask kirky hes got loads on, he'll pick you up and drop you off and he'll pay you £80 a day labouring. you have to keep his books above head level like the koran though.

alrite mate kirky lives to far mate i just want someone to teach me mate im getting frustated now there is jobs by mine that want doing but i cant do them

do what everyone els does mate go buy a hawk and trowel and go do some jobs ,if it turns out crap 9 times out of 10 the client hasnt got a clue anyway mate :P

you wont learn in a couple of days mate. imo you dont even learn on the short courses. its one of those jobs mate that takes practice. what about the people you worked for before?

well your not going to have confidence when you dont know what your doing. i think to be good at the job you have to understand the materials you work with. its ok going with a plasterer for a week. but if hes skimming on board all week then thats all your going to learn. theres so many different aspects to the trade that you need to work with someone who knows what they are doing for a long time to learn it all.

and thats how it is most of the time mate. you start off doing that and work your way up. its just one of those jobs that takes time. if you havent got the time due to family/money/bills etc then i suggest you try a different trade mate.

When I leaned all I did was mix for a year solid. The best experience I had because it gave me time to WATCH. Thats the key to learning from good plasterers. Then when I was given a go (purely for a laugh at my expence) I had a bit of a clue. No one mate is going to take you on and show you what to do immediately. Take it from our point of view. Its taken us yrs and yrs to pick up things and become a certain level, theres no way unless your family that youre gonna be handed it on a plate.
Having said that Conner I feel that you really do want to learn and I admire your persistance. I struggled to just be allowed to do the basics so we all know what its like.
TRY JOINING IN ON THE FORUM. Even if you cant give advice, YOU CAN ASK QUESTIONS. Theres a mountain of knowledge here mate that will help you more than I think you realise. You never know whos watching and reading and may help you out. The way to NOT get help is to ask for work with no input ,be it banter or questions.
Not having a go mate Im just honestly trying to point you in the right direction. Lets see what you do.

i remember in about 2 months into starting my job i was watching one of the lads skim a ceiling and he said, shouldnt you be taping the joints? i said no ive done it all so i can spend all afternoon watching you lot. the boss didnt mind cus id got my work done and he liked the fact i was eager to watch them and learn.

yeah barry i hav transport i used to work for a render company done some rockwool boarding and some scrimming giv us a pm if any details thanks

has anyone heard of a company called ej horrocks i used to work for them coloured exterior render k finish lay on 1.5 mm thick rub up with plastic float

have to say doing ur time labouring is a must with plastering. i got well frustrated just knocking up and clearing up all day, coz i wanted to learn. i didnt put anything on till at least 6 months, then it was just reveals, understair cupboards etc. for months.

i always got told if u cant labour properly for some1 else, how are u ever gonna labour for urself whilst trying to do a days work.

thing i found tho is that every labourer iv had doesnt understand this and wants to be putting on from day 1 and then gets the arse and leaves

bruce this is for you female aliens hav invaded the planet & are kidnapping men with big cocks!dont worry youre not in danger!im just txting to say goodbye

blimey. well if u did they are excellent to practise with. just keep plastering till u cant get in the door.

u seem pretty enthusiastic m8 which is more then most people looking to learn. unfortunatly its just a s**t time. best thing would be to find and old bloke who plods who has the time to show u. personally i wouldnt get involved in house bashers.

have u tried looking for screeding companies? or mf and tacking companies? it could be a way in and a lot of em have a spread on the side for the odd bit.

but seriously m8, if ur after a trade, there are far better paid and better treated trades than plastering

nothing mate. but i think if u wanna learn the trade properly skimming boards all day like a maniac maybe isnt the best way. i would prefere to learn with some1 that has the time to teach then if u wanna do housebashing do it once u can plaster

I don't know how many companies or individual spreads you have approached but my guess is that you may put them off if you keep mentioning about learning to plaster, if you're applying for labouring jobs as you should be keep stume and get the labouring job first and work your way through like most of us have. Learning a trade properly is a marathon (or is that snickers) not a sprint, some things just can't be rushed.

yes m8 house bashing - new build

heres a joke i got sent earlier as connor started it

What's the difference between love, true love and showing off?

Spitting, swallowing and gargling.
