Hi Guys,

Just some information required my end on the types of trowel you use.
Whether you use Carbon Steel or Stainless Steel

If you can answer in the poll I would be very grateful, if you answer SS, can you comment the reasons why, if you use Carbon, also please comment why

Thanks for taking time to do this

Ryan
I take it you are considering whether to add a carbon to the nela range?I use stainless mostly. Though I do have carbon but rarely use it if I'm honest? I think they have been superceded? It would be like preferring having an old record player and LP records but actually just playing the tunes on your phone or MP3 player because it's just easier. It's just the modern world. We all want things quick and easy. Having a carbon is a like a Japanese tea ceremony? It's worth it but it just takes time and people don't have the patients.

Got both, use both, like both.
Would buy a carbon with the Nela handle, or would buy Nela handles to put on my carbons, if I could. (Can I?)

Call me an absolute philistine, but after coating with 14" MT SS it`s plastic all the way - Speedskim/Delehedy and final trowel with Nela PlasticFlex

Maybe I`m just keeping from being bored with the latest fads but at least I`m happy lol

Anyone used Nela mediflex? Currently use speedskim and finish with superflex2, but thinking of trying a medi .

Tried it for the 1st time last weekend. I used it for putting on and although I'm fairly tidy on my 1st coat this made it even better. I used it all the way through to the finish and it was good to only use the one trowel for a change. Got to say I was very impressed.

Thanks for the info. What size?

Let us know how you get on
Got no just fine with it this morning @Squarehead .......tbh I bottled it initially....it was a hobbly old ceiling, up and down a bit....pu the first thick coat on with my old faithful ss trowel, gave it a speedskim, let it pull in then put the 2nd coat on with the mediflex 14" .......it was brilliant straight out of the box, lovely feel and it gave an easy nice finish. For me the handles seem to give less arm strain, I have a super flex, but honestly think I have a new best friend. In my opinion it is a worthwhile purchase.

Do you use they flexi ones for laying on or just finishing?
I haven't used the flexi one for laying on, thought it might be a bit too flexible. I would compare the medi to the best mt I have ever had, the one that got used and used for s/c and then when nearly worn through turned into the best skimmer ever.......but with the medi you get the feel of the super worn trowel on day one, but that is only my opinion. I will get another to keep as a spare.

That's sold it to me, love finishing with nela flex 2 but you do have to keep an eye on it and been looking at the medi for a while now

Is the mediflex made by nela?
I have to give this forum a bit of a break every now and then as It tempts me in to buying loads of tools!
