I would say that I am a great salesman, a pretty good tradesman, but the worlds worst accountant.
I am always owed money ... presently 6-10 grand.
When I go slack I chase it up - That's what quiet weeks are for & it means a steady stream of income all year round.
its a fair point in general, but domestic plasterings usually just the odd room I guess so should be paid on completion. when I started out id want paying straight away, but these days on domestic render jobs ill invoice at a later late and they'll just pay by bacs, its a bit of trust involved. its like any other business its managing cash flow and building money into your business, starting out self employed id loose sleep at being owed 1000 quid, but these days I pay more than that out a day in wages most days, so its all relative.90% of the time no one is around when I finish so whom is paying straight away ?
If you can't wait a few days then people shouldn't be trading
I'm a joker because I ain't chasing the general public for money? If anyone does a job in my house the money is sitting for them finishing and to be honest I've never had a problem getting paid on completion. Contract is different and will wait for that but I just don't see how I should hand every tom dick and harry credit and it's not because I am desperate for the cash it's because I'm not wanting ripped offI'm starting to see how some lose out on work, instead of being undercut as is the usual cry, it seems it's the, I can do it but it's cash on completion only. Jokers

Fair enough if no one is in, I'm not going to sit on the stairs and refuse to leave lol. It's easier getting paid and forgetting about it not thinking on next job that you need to call or text or swing by for the cash if it's a bit of a trek. Most of the jobs I do for domestic customers no one is in when I finish because they work, so getting paid instantly when no one is in, is not possible.
We don't all live hand to mouth, on the limit & desperate for todays money!
Like I said, I am too soft in the payment department ... but I must be doing something right not to be desperate enough to offer card payment on completion.
your soft in the head if you think we believe your cack.
Tell you about another scam, posting pictures up of jobs you didn't do claiming to be yoursAbout the card payments I had and still have a WorldPay Zinc but I do not use it. I found people were wary of it in case you were secretly scanning their details like in I****n Restaurants and Petrol Stations. I never use it now. A waste of money. Also do not offer PayPal as a customer can ask PayPal for a refund upto ninety days after the transaction on the basis that they say they did not authorise the card and PayPal have no alternative but to refund the monies. Beware of that scam.

Aye, my mum and papa used to work for them years ago. Every Friday they would go round the doors collecting money, said folk used to hide from them and hit them with mental stories how they couldn't pay. Remember her telling me about when she knocked on a door and tv and lights where on but no answer then she knocks again and hears a baby cry then she heard "wid you shut the fk up it's the bloody provy wumin!"lolYou are familiar with working in Glasgow then stu?..provy cheque.
