Ceiling dry lining

Hi I’m dry lining my ceiling it’s slightly more than 2 boards 2.4 x1.2 across so leaves a 50mm gap to the wall im worried that if I bridge the gap with a 50mm strip it may crack, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Cut your board back to next joist then put a decent strip in to the wall

Don't leave a 50mm gap then do 25 each side
