Was hoping for some information or old hands knowledge on Charing sand? What makes it unique and is it anyway similar to building sand? As I’ve had a discussion with some one who has stated to me that it’s just building sand from a certain seam in the country? Would appreciate some real Information, I’ve done my own homework but would also like to hear some other opinions?? Thanks

Never heard of it personally but the similarity to building sand would, i suppose, depend on it's clay and silt content.

Comes from Charing in Kent.....pit owned by lafarge, but I think it’s played out now.
Good sand for everything, holds water and plasticiser well.

A bit more reading they still have active quarries in Aylesford and Maidstone for the same sand seam, but the one In Charing has ceased production so you where right there.
