Escort was high on my list but I thought that I may be able to find something cheaper to run. ( I'm half Scottish so I'm half tight lol)
my mate is a bricky has an estate astra you can insure it as domestic so it will be cheaper, just put the seats down in the back :RpS_thumbup:

I have always rated Astravans . They are quite cheap to run and easy to get parts for if they go wrong. Not to steep on the insurance. The only downside is you cant get too many materials in them , but great size for just carrying your tools around in.

I'll second that i have had one and you should be able to pick one up on a Y reg ish in the 400 to 750 price rage nee botha. I payed under 300 a year for insurance, Tax is just over 200 for the year and they are descent on diesel.

I beg to differ Jessop, ford escorts 10 a penny with lots of Renault kangoos Peugeot partner and Citroen berlingos and soda Fabia vans to choose from. I'm not looking for a professional van to make me look professional just a cheap runner that I don't care if it gets dirty.

then get an estate car more choice less insurance cost :RpS_thumbup:

I had a Renault scenic and it was my favourite car ever!maybe cause I'm a bus driver so like to upright driving positioning and tend not to notice the **** handling ect but never caused me any mechanical issues in the two years I owned it. I actually like the idea of only having two seats as I can get away without taking kids ect when I. We'd to go places! Lol

robin reliant long wheel base - canary yellow cant beat it ............:RpS_thumbsup:

Me and my eldest lad have a Reliant Realto that we are tidying up and i keep threatening to take the back seats out and use it for work :RpS_thumbup: :RpS_unsure:

i remember driving to london to see my misses in the rain in the escort van, my feet was soaked when i got there :RpS_mellow:

before I get trashed on here for this...

This was me trying to get back on the tools after having a tropical illness...

I use to go and help a guy I use to employ out just to try and keep my hand in... Most of the time I would be shattered after the first set.. I also use to do a bit of skimming for my mate the bathroom fitter and he use to let me have as long as I needed to get it done :-) those were desperate times and doing one wall at a time was slow but the finish was there but I use to tire very quickly...

I did not trade as a plasterer while using a smart car...lol

I've had many vans over the years. In 2002 I bought a brand new fiat doblo and it was one of the best vans I've had. Nippy and economical. Had an astramax before that, that was quite a good small van too.
I need a bigger van these days tho.

yeah, the doblo is cheap. and look a bit bigger than the berlingo etc. they look a bit like a pig from the front, though. the older ones. a lot of vans / manufacturers are the same these days. nissan used to be sh1t hot cars. they used to be datsun. i had a datsun sunny. but i think nissan vans are now made by renault. like skoda and vw. you want something that will last forever. toyota hiace
