Hi,
Im looking to render my new build house that will have xps ewi. I've used monocouche renders before and don't like how easy they mark/ damage. I'm considering something like wethertex grc with a acrylic top coat? Am I right in thinking acrylic is faily durable ?

Ive be not done external rendering in over 15 years so am not up to speed with what's out there now.

i want something self coloured that can be at least hosed and scrubbed clean without fear of damage! And not impossible to repair if at all possible.

preferably something that can be hand applied as well.

What system would you lads apply to your own house? any ideas would be appreciated

Cheers
Mark

You can have whatever you want within reason. Yes the acrylic is durable and cleanable but then you can one up and have the silicone version and one up on that and have one with nano technology if you are prepared to pay for it.

On my own house? well if it was to be the acrylic version then maybe the nano version but I do plan on doing my own house but with brick slips to match the London Cotswold's originals if I can get them. I need a few thousand so saving up.

Thanks for that, will look at the nano stuff. Have you used it before? Easy to apply?Any brand that is worth a mention?

Yeah we looked at brick slips just incase planning wouldn't go for the render finish, not a cheap option! thankfully they gave us the go ahead on render! Thanks

Never used the nano version and one manufacturers acrylic /silicone differs in use from another. Someone will be along soon giving their opinion of the nano stuff but it is fairly a new product.

i would go for a marked out brickwork quoins, with a calcium flint dash to the other areas . a no maintance external
acrylic always look scruffy at the base where they get covered in dirt and splashes from footpaths and gardens.

XPS EWI is expensive £50 per M2 material alone to get U Value of 0.15 Km and thats without the adhesive... base coat... mesh.. and top coat... or have you all read his question wrong?
