Cleaning old PVA off brick

Hi

I know this isn't a lime specific query, but I figured lime plasterers were more likely to have come up against this...

If you take a wall patch plastered with a gypsum backing coat (Thistle bonding) back to brick, how do you clean off the PVA used to seal the wall (to replaster with lime stipple/coarse stuff)?

I've seen acid based cleaners but keeping it keeping it off the good plaster would be a knightmare.

I wouldn't worry about such a small area but you'd diamond grind it to answer your question

Just wash it off. It re emulsifis.
