hi got a few lenghts to put up soon it's not really my thing but goin to do it anyway was going to put a batton on the wall to support it then screw it aswell the question is could I stick it with casting plaster then stop all the joints with it aswell also will the back of the cornice need Pva for suction an stuff cheers
Any pointers will be good on this one
 
Back of cornice won't need pva
You can't stick it up with casting will set far to quick
String a line on wall and ceiling. On the wall line stick some pins in that will hold the cornice no need for a batten.
You can use ready mixed tile adhesive for cornice. But proper adhesive (fibrefix or ca120) are best by a mile.

If you come proud with the casting plaster at all can it be sanded back just in case it's gone off or is a matter of staying with it an shaping it as you go cheers
 
Hi mate yeah I'm only in Liverpool. If u need any cornice samples or whatever just give me a shout. If the customer knows what they want u can always email me a photo of it and chances are we have it or very similar and You will probably find I'm cheaper than most places for supply too.

If u get stuck and do buy the cornice from me I could always give u a few pointers when u call up to collect/get it delivered.

Anyway advise is only a phone call away mate.
 
I fix cornice exactly as Mike says.... definately counter sink and screw aswell.. this also helps '' pull '' the cornice into shape, as your walls/ceiling will no doubt not run true.. take your time and you will be fine mate.. dont forget to dampen down before filling in aswell...
 
I enjoy fibrous , it makes a change to do something different now and then.. done loads over the years, and its very satisfying... surprised more plasterers dont do it/learn to do it...

I agree cassie I have done a variety of fibrous in the past (no expert myself but the person I did them with was)and quite enjoy it.:RpS_thumbup:

Hi people.
I'd suggest sticking up with cove adhesive, screwing and filling with casting plaster.
I fit cornice daily so any queries get in touch.
 
I've always used prestia ca 120 adhesive, more expensive but does the job well. always screw using zinc plated high grabbers ( countersink before hand)!I would swear by it, long set time and once it's gone it isn't going no where, good to do the mitres and joins with as well, externals come up nice and sharp,which is a bonus, if your mitres and joints are pretty consistant.
 
It'd about an hour for both of us but any later and we hit traffic and you will take 2 hours easy. So get there before the rush. In site for 6...although I over slept today haha
