Hi all,
this is my first post but often come on here for a nosey.
Me and family are in talks about relocating to truro, Cornwall but I just wondered how busy the new build work is down there. Any feedback would much appreciated as this would be a big life changing move for us.
cheers

Welcome and I made a big move 9 years ago from a city to very rural and it's the best thing I/we ever did not for everyone of course but as with most things in life you either win or lose when you take risks.

We are busy as ****, but we are well established. There's plenty of housing projects going on, but you will find that a handfull of larger plastering & drylining contractors have the work sewn up and rates are not good. We don't do site work as such. Good luck if you choose to come down here. There's loads of fanny in Truro too.

Cheers guys. When you say your busy, is that with private work or new build site work. New build rates up here are around £4 sqm board and skim.

We do mainly private one offs, barn conversions, green oak framed properties, eco builds etc,. and work for a few small developers. We are dryliners, mainly tacking, dabbing & tape/joint.

Welcome and good luck. There is a lot of work in the South West, but as previous posts there are also a lot of companies going for it. Its about making contacts so start now before you move that way you are ahead of the game !
