Since I always finish with a plastic now I have stopped cross troweling with the ss at the end of the set. Does anyone cross trowel or do you just finish with plazzy and that's it?

we change from time to time, but i do like to see cross trowel. when we are on first class plastering we finish with every stroke being the same length.

I cross trowel but have stopped using my plastic trowel, think the plastic trowel bubble has popped for me sick of putting Knicks in it so I just stick with ss

Isn't all your plastering first class?...............:RpS_sneaky:..........................:RpS_laugh:

I usually give a cross trowel if there is a window letting light flow along a wall, or if its a long wall its no harm to crossit either

All trowel strokes in the same direction wither its up down seft right or even diagonal like @KevRM
ps @spunky there is defo a difference mate. @mrmacgypsum the refina plastics are ok but abit rigid, work well when polishing but the other foregin spanish looking 1s with the wooden handle work great when troweling up...

I sooo hate this saying mate, as true as it may be...
well suppose painters look at it and think this is nice i'll paint it left to right , and try not to stipple it with a roller , it all looks the same !
there is only plasterers that look at this any different , not knocking it at all as ive done and still are constaintly striving for perfection , but still it gets a stipple finish from roller or even better papered afterwards,
and as i am now old knackered im trying speedskim ,plazzy trowels and such im f##king learning all over again although it is easier on the bones!!

Presentation is important fellas, when a customer or a builder ect steps foot on site and sees nice neat pink troweled up walls free from splashes, hollows, water marks ect and a clean site they dont even look at our work. Theyll just walk from room to room thinking how nice of a job it is. But when they see messy workmanship with water running everywere on a wall and feel it and then start looking and checking everything ect its an optical illuztion, we as plasterers no its all the same when painted or papperd but i just dont like the saying lol i know a builder who says it all the time... he says if my plasterer finishes his wall and then the decorator fills it and sands it then paints its just as good as urs or any1s, its all the same when its painted!

Its definitely worth getting the plaster to look good when its finished. It may look the same when painted but customers dont realise that. If it looks shite they will think it is shite!!!!!

ive been at this game 30yrs so wat longstroke is saying is correct , but for me this comes without me thinking about this and i havnt had to think about this for a very long time,
