Damp spreading

does it all need to come off back to bare wall ? no it was plastered from the top of the skiritng with the 2nd coat ....shall i just take the skirting off and go half way up the wall ??im in a ------ mood right now

So...what did the job consist of?
Did the plasterer quote for sorting out the damp issues? Or did you ask for it just to be plastered?.. What did he suggest?
Confused:loco:

its a stone wall and i asked for a re plaster where the damp had pulled the plaster off....and im in norfolk and he suggested about going half way up the wall ?

Sorry to say you've been robbed sand and cement may not be an option either might be looking at lime mortar, the sand and cement may of been the original problem any pics before the work?

Hi marshy.... There are pictures on page 1 of this post just after he re skimmed the wall...you can see the damp ....ive just pulled a lot of plaster off this afternoon and the wall where the damp patches were are very damp... im not sure wether to pull all the grey mix which i presume to be sand and cement ? right back to the original walls ??

Damp spreading
Damp spreading

Two new images first one is where one of the damp patches were above the electric socket and how its spread on the 2nd picture ive drawn a line around the new damp...There has never been damp on this wall before !! and its spread going the other way as well its a fkn nightmare

OK sounds like you won't get them back to remidy it. I would have advised lime especially as it's listed so hack it back to the stone as much as you can then call Anglia lime for further advice.

Dryzone do a pre bagged render in fact 2. The 2nd has a high lime content for surfaces you have and can be skimmed with normal multi finish. I would apply an anti sulphate prior to this if I were you

Hi mark,in my opinion what you need to do is ,take skirts off, strip the wall upto a metre in height , have your wall injected with a good damp cream replasted with sand and cement with waterproofer and a salt inhibitor added to the mix , taking care not to bridge damp by covering the injection holes ,put a finish coat of plaster on then replace your skirts job should be done .the problem is they have used a gypsum based product which will attract moisture.as it is a graded building you may want to use traditional methods as you have already looked at through google I see , up to you.
In order to tell you were it's coming from rising or penetrating damp etc if you could post pics of both sides of the wall and surrounding areas this would help.

If the problem is the gypsum plaster they have used why inject it? I would say the outside needs sorting first before the inside.

I would as a matter of covering all bases,I would look to the outside aswell to see if ,1. The ground level is to high ,2. Any outside finishes are letting in water,3. Gutters and down pipes are sound, just a thought with the age of the property have the floors ever been ripped up and relayed with concrete with damp membrane?

Agree. Injection should be the first thing before any waterproof render!

I'm jot arguing with you it was a simple question why do you think in other countries they don't put a dpc in? Have you ever found rising damp and any pics? Coz me and others on here don't believe it exists. No need to see your arse and call me names xx

So you've been here two weeks and that's it? Maybe settle in a bit better then you might get a feel for the place, then you may actually fall in love with me :)

Just ignore him. Think he got thrown off UKSpreads for doing something similar. That was a plastering site, by the way, not porno.
