Looked at a job today and she is getting damp companies out and one has advised a cavity tray going off his magic metre lol you couldn't make it up the gaff has been empty five years and is sound lol

Right so you know I'm not wrong in what I'm saying.
Or can the bridging I'm explaining not happen at all?

If tanking has been done right , there is no Bridging ,cutting off the bottom inch of render will do nothing ,only need to do that if you dont need tanking

If you have solid floors and only tank the wall if you render and skim to the floor then the moisture will soak through the finish plaster which is called bridging.
More common to do and part of the spec when injecting but most plasterers who are 'damp proofers' don't account for the floor when 'sorting' damp in people's homes.

If your skimming to the floor your making a basic mistake....

Have you seen them cameras you can get from China that connect to your phone? They are about a couple of foot long to 7 metres like a tube with the camera on the end ideal for drilling into a cavity and checking it out I recon. They have an attachment on the end that has a mirror so you can spin it in the cavity and look a bit like them things they used to look over the walls at the football matches in the 50s. My mates got one and he paid about £7

I looked into them cheap o ones but someone told me they don't work on ALL android smart phones. Is that true ? If they work they sound like a bargain

Not sure what phone my mate had I know it wasn't an I phone but he said you can get them for any phones but I've not looked into it yet. I have an iPhone so hopefully. He downloaded an ap for it but it only opens up so much of what you can do until you upgrade the app which you pay for.

I've read some of the Chinglsh blurb they advertise with but they never definitely say it will/won't work on whatever android phone, that's why I don't want to shell out on a blade runner type product

Very indirect generic answer that one!
You've basically avoided every thing I mention and why.

I bet if you rounded up 20 spreads who 'damp proof' and asked them to tank a wall in lieu of a dpc most would not tank the floor the 200mm they should do which when they then render to the floor will result in bridging.

ok inject a brick wall ok .but I've seen so many inject stone walls to me that a fuking joke. And some times I think does it work on brick

It's more likely to work on brick than stone imo.
Personally I'm starting to prefer tanking to injection as there are to many variables involved with making sure the injection works which the client won't always allow you to check for.
Tanking removes the need for these checks.

Damp will rise through the mortar bed more then the brick ,thats why years ago the chemical companies moved their goal posts ,again !

Some of the new members posts are delayed because the first 3 posts go into moderation to stop the spammers :-)
