Damsel in distress - has this been double skimmed

Hi. I have just had a lounge wall and large stairwell wall (that includes a window) damp proofed. Membrane, then kingspan 18 thermal board, and then supposed 2 skims. Lounge looks like one skim in places, and stairwell has a couple of vertical long humps on lines I can see. Wooden window ledge stuck out an inch, now embedded as new thermal plasterboard is thicker. Is that ok to be embedded? I had new plasterboard/wall 10 yrs ago and never saw the lines last time. Would appreciate your thoughts, especially as whether you think there are two coats, as ideally I would like them back to put the extra coat on, finish bits better, or am I being unreasonable? Photos attached. Many thanks. Sue

Wow

That's impressive.

How much did they quote and how much have you paid
Nearly 6k. I've paid £5k and am holding £1k, but he doesn't see what the problem is. My fear is that if I don't pay up the full amount, he won't give me the 10yr damp guarantee. I don't want to be unreasonable I just want a proper finish. He thinks the painter can make good, but the painter said it's not ideal, and another decent plasterer who has taken a look said it's not a good plaster job.

ask for your money back,
small claims court,
take photographs,
independent surveyors/plasterers report,

forget about your 10yr damp guarantee, this needs sorted first,

not good Sue.

The number of coats of plaster is totally irrelevant in this case, the standard of work is just dreadful.

He ain't gonna come back anyway.

Did they put thermal board on stairwell? If so, did you see it go on? Looks like quite a big margin on stair stringer, so I’d be doubtful if that has it on. If that was part of the deal, then I’d be suspicious and poke through with a spike, should go in at least 40-45mm.

I paid for thermal kingspan on whole stairwell, top to bottom. Unfortunately I was not there to witness it being put on, as there was so much dust and scaffolding tower up stairs, which my 97yr old dad couldn't navigate, so I wasn't there
