Diesels

Anyone got a diesel and thinking of going back to petrol or electric? That clown mayor of london is threatening to ban them. Liverpool are thinking of introducing a charge for diesel drivers. Wouldn't surprise me if May and Hammond introduce some tax hike on them when they get their majority. Future looks bleak. In France, they gave drivers ten thousand towards a new car. Thinking of selling the van, now, and the wive's car. In a year or two, demand and prices might bottom out. She dropped her car at the Audi garage today for that refit for the cheat emmissions. They phoned her up at work and said one of the front headlight bulbs had gone and offered to replace it. £286 . Didn't get it done. They said it was a special xenon bulb and that's why the price appeared expensive :ROFLMAO:.

Was same when I lived in Germany big government incentive to buy new car by getting a silly high price for your old knackered banger. They just wanted the masses to have new vehicles but obviously knowing your bullied into having main dealers service/repair them as they use nuts bolts etc which you can't buy spanners for etc. BMW did it for years regard a specialist socket to remove spark plugs which you couldn't buy. All a big con. Bastards

They never miss a trick. They're talking about introducing a tax on people with woodburners, as well. Unbelievable. You try and do something about the energy bill ripoff and they jump on it. The audi bulbs are 16 quid on ebay.

Wouldn't surprise me regard Woodburn ers people sick of being hammered by fuel bills. And to change a light bulb in one of those Smart cars? You need to take all the front end off costing you a few hundred quid before you get bummed for the bulb aswell

They certainly are. Like they did with fracking. But they will hammer diesel drivers and woodburners a few months into their five years. I've got woodburners and diesels. Not like wacky races. Separately. Theresa May is evil. Don't think I've despised a politician so much since Bliar. We're the most spied on nation in the world because of that bitch.

work for cash only and catch buses....problem solved
Can't wait to see the bus drivers face when I tell him to wait while I put my tools on plus gorilla tubs and my Belle cement mixer plus hop ups a few beads some waterproofer and 8 bags of cement and ask where best to shovel in my bulk bag of rendering sand??

Buy few bangers now and then collect yer £8,500 scrap fee on each and retire somewhere else yet to impose the scheme and do the same.
Problem lies with the people trouble is we have been conditioned to accept the robbery and corruption and moan to fuk but do nothing .
This will never change until on mass all wake up and say" hold the fuk on I'm not playing anymore !!!"
People see themselves as powerless therefore it works just fine for the few that run the show.
Welcome peasants!!!! To the big prison we call earth:hola:
Robbed n bullied and fooled from cradle to grave.

I agree. My auntie used to say that if you took all the money in the world and shared it evenly with everyone, within ten years it would all be back in the same hands.

If I hear "strong and stable leadership" again I'll go apeshit

yeah my BMW bulb was £90 just for the bulb from a motorfactors.... had to take the wheel off to fit it as well...lol

Myself and the wife are looking to get her a kiddy wagon and we wanted a diesel but you got no chance now... where there is smoke there is fire... I was given a Tesla a year ago and it was great so I am looking at getting on of those but its a big reach I think so may end up with an X5 but petrol is going to be brutal

I think that is true... those people that know how to make money will know how to keep it and m,ake more... look at the lottery winners that blow it in a few years... easy come easy go!!!

I just bought a 3.0 v6 petrol Mitsubishi shogun sport, got it at the right time I think apparently the bigger petrol engined motors are ment to be getting dearer to buy with this whole diesel thing going on.

Not that I bought it for that reason

Stupid election , was hanging onto my diesel banger for this but deferred now till Dec :(

So whats the story with a diesel? Im about to buy a nearly new i20 for the mrs but not so sure now , cant see there being a charge in NI but what about the tax? is it going up? Still worth it for the miles she does.

I had a petrol transit a few years ago, I'm sure you can still get them.
Problem is, once everyone dumps diesel and switches to petrol the tax on that will go up more.
Years ago the government gave you a grant to get lpg fitted. When I had that on my 3.5 v8 110 it was 29.9 p/l..once the scheme had been out a couple of years, the fuel cost went up almost monthly.

Why not danny?
I dunno what to do , miles we cover mean a diesel is the only option , apart from a higher tax band what other penalties will their be?

Congestion and pollution charges. All the main cities and towns will be introducing it, and for Birmingham it looks like it'll be £20 a day to go into the centre and there's no information yet on how big an area they'll decide the centre covers.

Well they've been systematically doing their best to kill off the small businesses in city centres across the land so double whammy for them.
City centres left to chain off licenses , theme pubs, and fast food joints.
Oh and taxi ranks or buses running on electric we presume.

Nissan nve200, was looking at them there about 17-20k new, pure electric vans, they tiny only good for tools you won't shift much materials with them

This is just the dumbest thing , so delivery companies , hauliers etc , they will have to pay just to do their job?
Why are they penalising the drivers and not the manufacturers or importers?
If they are serious about limiting diesel then there must be 50 simpler and less harsh ways of doing it.
This totally sucks when your about to buy a new car!

Thats mad altogether , will that be every city like? even Belfast

Apparently they are, it's that thing in the news about the air quality plan/legislation. The ULEZ step up for London will be when it's introduced everywhere, and any diesels built before Sept 2015 will be hammered or barred.

It's going to hit me as my unit is in the city centre. I've been looking for another unit but there's fcuk all available that isn't massive and/or mega bucks. I've been considering buying a classic van instead, which ironically would be exempt from the ULEZ charge, as well as tax free and a good bit of advertising.

Flipping heck, insanity , no wonder they have hidden all the information until after the election!!!
This is going to cause utter chaos

I just had a read up on this, you're correct on the date but the legislation also says there were early adopters so if you van/car is better than euro4 you be fine.

It has to be Euro 6 for diesels to comply, and Euro 5 for petrols. So vans before Sept 2015 and you're fcuked as they never miss an opportunity to screw you if you're a small business or sole trader.

I have to look into it properly, I'm sure it said euro4 euro6 for diesels

Don't do it a sparky who I know got one and it has rapidly gone from being the best van he ever bought to being the biggest pain in the ass ( where we live is very rural though). His customers are now starting to ask for money knocked off his invoices because he is charging it off thier electric.

surely these cars should have solar panel body work , and the wheels recharging the batteries also??
Is this happening or not?
If not why not.??
Or is this just selling us products to consume more products so paying out equal amounts be it diesel, petrol or now electricity.
Should everyone install solar and wind and put turbines on the water pressure coming into their houses , I wonder how long before they tax the god given elements.

If I would get one I'd just get it on a hire contract, I don't think the batteries would last year's and years.

Nissan put a five year guarantee on them, but the biggest issue for me is the range on a full charge being less than 100 miles, down to 70 ish with a full load. o_O
