Any w*kr can cover artex
Funny you say that, I never seen the problem with covering artex but I’m genuinely amazed how many monkeys somehow f**k it up.

This job I’m on, they asked why you can see the artex in hall as it was skimmed and you can see the skim is about 10mm lol. Tell me why mr clever, how can 10mm of skim still show the artex pattern?

You will see it because it aint been scraped so on the high points it aint ten mill thick and the way skim dries it will show some backgrounds bit like when sand and cement is devil floated to much

It amazes me some plasterers still don't realise the first coat has to have gone right off before putting the second on. I know some decent plasterers but they are s**t skimming artex. Anyone who lays same gear on for first and second coat is especially s**t going over artex imo

I do often lay in with same gear but not on artex. If skimming board and put first on really tight, it goes straight in so can lay in same mix.

That's what I suspect happened on this job. They just threw 1 really thick coat of skim on thinking it will cover it, which it does, but the pattern grins through and shows in the paint.
