It's up to the individual if they think they deserve it and if you have payed your dues you do deserve it, I'm sure you've payed into some kind of scheme and you deserve it? The problem with it is all the form filling which puts a lot off and a lot who deserve it, also the means testing costs just as much and doesn't save anything. Then straight away in typical Tory style you blame the poor, the question you should be asking is it fair for the ones who have paid in never mind the ones that haven't that's irrelevant, the point is it's not fair on the ones who have paid in and let's not forget this is a Tory idea so stop looking to blame labour ffs

It is doom and gloom but choices need to be made and if you want less doom and gloom you need to vote for someone who is offering that. I can't see what the tories are offering that is good unless you are super rich because now they are hitting pensioners.
Most pensioners kids have well and truly left and won't be doing much shagging about if they are also ill, I wonder what the crack is if you are an old couple and one needs the care and you have no savings and your house is worth £100,000? Would the house be used up by the first spouse hanging on for free years leaving the living spouse homeless?
In a nutshell, wake up and stop defending these cuts like they won't effect you are you that stupid and ignorant or are you part of the super rich?

I think you've got things super twisted and can't admit your wrong!
The current cap is 23kish.......
They are proposing to basically quadruple that to 100k.
The care costs will be deducted from the deceased persons estate only after they die.
The surviving spouse WILL NOT have to sale a house to pay for the costs of there dead partners care until they either need care or also pass away.
So they won't be left homeless.
They will be left with 100k.
I think we need to see the ironed out policy in full before you start trying to tear it apart with out the full facts.
Can I ask why you make no mention of the fact that the existing policy has a current cap less than the proposed and that you do in deed have to sale your property to pay for care?

Post up where is says who is going to pay for the spouse once the equity has been used on the spouse who died? So every pensioner who owns their own house is wealthy wtf. Plain english you've said they take you down to the last hundred grand then your house is an asset and sold when you die to recoup the money.
They pay for your care but take it out of any money or asset you have down to the amount of £100k ONCE you are deceased......HOWEVER they WILL NOT make you sell the property if you have STILL HAVE a surviving spouse until they to are deceased.
With the current policy YOU MUST SELL ANY PROPERTY YOU HAVE immediately to pay for your care.
You also will only be left with 23k.
How can upping the cap to 100k and not making them sell there house straight away be any worse?

Granted it should be care for the elderly that is a priority and they are looked after which a lot of people will.
Dont forget a lot of my generation don't own a house due to prices yet they still work and will pay into the system so potentially they could have all there care paid for.

And I asked you to explain, you didn't and I pointed out your house is now an asset. You keep saying you get to keep your house ( you don't because the government will own it) your partner can stay there for free for the lifetime (which you made up because it's not what the tories are saying) they might say it's a promise but they also said that about the election not happening. If your parents house is used to pay for their care and you are dependant do you honestly think they will let you stay their for life if they have £100,000 tied up in it? To be honest it won't be the government it will be some Tory managed insurance company.
