Don't risk using Extratime

I'm gutted.
I rendered a large area in S&C and then used bluegrit.
Thought I'd try Extratime in the multifinish due to the size of the plastering.
The product was in date (expires 2023). Purchased from Travis Perkins. 1 Packet added to 12L of water. Thoroughly mixed before adding to 25kg bag of multifinish. First coat started crazing after an hour. Mixed new lot as above, and applied final coat. Nothing to lose as plastering already looked ruined. Hoped 2nd packet would cover problem however same thing happened during drying overnight. Amazon reviews have a lot of good ones and also a couple of people having similar problem to mine.
I would strongly suggest DIYers don't risk using Extratime due to the risk of ruining your hard work.

Anyway, I assumed it was a good product until this happened. After a bit of research, I found out that I'm not the only person that this has happened to. It's quite common.
I've also found out that it's 'made' by a plasterer NOT a company with any kind of science involved in the mystery ingredients or manufacture. I guess the Cream of Tartar in my packs was from old stock but he only had 2013 labels left in his bedroom/factory lol
Just a friendly warning to others of the risk of using EXTRATIME

Extratime only gives you more time to get the finish on once it hits the walls if you have not controlled suction you will get problems

Bit naughty to slag off a product in this way. It's up to the end user to make sure it is suitable for the job. Luckily a decent spread will sort it.

Extra time was not the reason for this.

You fooked up. Own it and move on. We all f**k up, and sometimes post it and get the piss took, but it’s being honest and not taking life too seriously. Think of it like confession and you’ll feel better. Everyone has a laugh…sometimes people learn something and the world keeps turning.

I still fook up, even as a time served spread/expert renderer/chancer

I’ve made a million off this forum by commercialising the Chrispy house diary. It’s beyond a joke :coffe:

I will happily reimburse your membership fees if you are not satisfied with the expert content of the CHD.

I have plastered 8 walls in this property. All of the walls were taken back to bare brick, repointed, rendered #1 (4S:1C) #2 (5S:1C:1/2L), Bluegrit suction controlled and plastered in multifinish.
All 7 without using Extratime are perfect and as smooth/flat as plasterboard.
The only one using Extratime is crazed. It doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out lol

If you knew what you were on about you wouldn’t have wasted your time repointing first, and you wouldn’t have needed blue grit
You’ve plastered 8 walls, your bragging to blokes who’ve plastered 8000 walls wind ya neck in
You f**k*d it up, it would have probably been worse without the extra time

I'd rather plaster 7 perfect walls than 8000 shite ones pmsl.

There are a few helpful intelligent guys on here (my thanks to those), but pretty much every post gets pathetic bitchy replies from miserable morons like the ones above.

Anyway, I think it's time to leave this sad forum. It's depressing listening to all the constant put downs as you miserable lot try to big yourselves up because you're not happy with your sad lives.

Don't risk using Extratime

8 walls? It takes 500 walls before you can consider yourself a plasterer, you need for experience . That's the number I consider to be able to call yourself a plasterer. You need for the experience to develop leather hands. You learn a lots of things plastering on the way to plastering 500 walls. After you realize that's what you are. None more important that this you are a knob.

On a serious note don't get it in your in your eye, happened on a big ceiling*, ended up with an eyeball that looked like an arsehole after a gangbang.
