What is the method to mechanically fix mesh into base coat using dowel fixings and where is the best place to buy them.

Apply polymer modified basecoat, bed in alkali resistant reinforcing mesh to basecoat and mechanically fix to substrate with dowel fixings.

When i priced the job the job was explained to me through a third party months ago, fixings not mentioned. Price was accepted and work due to start in few weeks and i was emailed the spec's other day there.

You priced a job without seeing a spec in writing? You're a ******* nutter.

Bet the company could't answer that question either. Another architect quoting out of a book.

Is it mushroom fixings or those depth pins? Dowel to me is a piece of wood? But some where I seem to remember doing a Permarock insulation job and the spread I was helping put depth pins in and called them dowel's.

Sounds as if it similar to going over mineral insulation on EWI where you drill and fix after first pass.

I'm using The Plasterers Forum Mobile App

Use the ones they use for fixing delta membrane to the wall , directbuild products do em

we had those depth pins on a job , they where plastic and called widgets. the builder wanted them to get the thickness on dashing that he was paying for, from the spec.
it made the dashing mortar to thick and it would slip, whenever we got near one while the dashing mortar was being applied we would hit it with the trowel to cut it off.
