I don't use the black screws because of the splinters I use the zinc plated silver ones
A lot depends on the brand. Had some that left my hands in tatters, others ok.

I try to get the coarse thread screws, they don't seem to splinter and the thread is more robust. Shhhh , new magnetic swarf removing screw holder coming to the markethad a box of screws from walls and ceilings once. Swarf was ridiculous in my fingers. I could have been picked up by a high power magnet if I was in a James Bond film!
