The swirl artex in this B&B is making me sick - but not as bad as the cornice running over the window outside, oh, and the anaglypta wallpaper and the bodged join in the coving hiding behind the wooly tartan curtains.

looks like the swirl we used to put on garage ceilings for bellend homes

You'd do better going for a pint than sitting there looking at the workmanship in your homeless hostel and feeling sick. End of the day it's someone else's property.

There again, I suppose if you've no money for shoes, then the price of a pint would be an issue.

Skim for me, just more solid and quicker, do both , drywall handy for some patching jobs and dormers with loads of tight angles . Imo
