I'm not into the rendering side of things
Big companies will always swallow the work and everyone takes a share.

worked for 7 years around neath and swansea getting similar rate as a subby ,an average house would be 110m2(local authority) ,a 2/1 gang would comfortably do a pair in 5/6 days complete granted it was dash not thin coat finish and we were paid through the openings, do the maths it was good money.

You make it sound good but its still crap..its winter now,since when do you get 5/6 days a week good conditions to render? How many rainy days are they going to be now.so doing a couple of house may turn into 12 days.still shite even if you do them in 6 days thats £2200 each then you've got a labourer to pay and tax,retention etc.you can earn that in 4/5 days skimming mrs apricots living room and mr Jones bedroom

These are s*** rates but it's not private work,
Some are going in as low as £40 and metre supply and fit to snare large tenders,
Companies are definitely offering the same rates by me,
It is what it is subby site work it's never going to be the same as private different ball game you've got a push the metres to earn a pound.
 
Yeah of coarse he’s trying to line his own pockets there all the same get the numptys to do the graft! And they will as long as theres Romanians in the country those duckers think there rich can probably buy a goat with a weeks money and feed 5 kids back home for a year!!

not in South Wales mate,take you're point about rain, but when your doing this work constantly you find ways of getting by ,either big days when it's dry or boarding in rain as long as it ain't torrential.

principle contracor would carry out this work not subcontractors.
 
Been in the trade 43 years and forgotten most than you lot know! I have work coming out of my ears but I was approached to do these! Anyway jog on there's good money to be earned on 1500 houses

You only just got 2, how have you been managing to run such a big render outfit with 1 ritmo? 3 vans 10 men 1 ritmo don't understand

Nice to see educated businessmen on here... I am going to renegotiate the rates but can't see them going much higher for access to1500 houses and I agree with you all rates are tough... but organized squads can make decent money... And someone has to run the jobs... But you don't want them to get paid? anyone who is serious just PM me... leave the name calling on the beano site

I thought the richest man 1 ritmo thing was just a wry joke, I though it was funny anyway, and I think Tramp genuinely didn't see how it can be done with 2 machines. (was quite interested in that myself, not that I would recognise a Ritmo if I tripped over it). Now you've explained.
Even Renderguy is opening up, even if most on here don't like the sound of the rates and site life.

I put no chancers on as I have come across hundreds over the years! I wasn't being facicious at all, I'm sure most people on here that do big works have had the same problem! Also I'm not a newbie here just lost my old login stuff as not been on it for a couple of years

Stressfull yes, but the rewards are there. I started out with a Ford escort site bashing at 23. We were getting done over by my then gaffer on the measures,everyone was moaning but they did nothing, so I approached the site agent for there next project cut my old gaffer out, I got a gang together and took the next site on, scrimped and funded it myself to pay the lads, and it went from there. Equally I know a fella who runs a huge roofing outfit 50 plus fellas, earns a fortune 200 grand a year plus and yet he lives like a monk, drives an old mondeo, never takes holidays etc, and you kind of think what's the point.
owls, thoughts on your new manager mr.pulis, i think its a step backwards/bad bad appointment, hoof the ball reputation at stoke, pulis/pardew/bruce/allerdyce, all just seem to go round and round, i do not know how they get there jobs, good luck with him,........a club and fan base like sheff wed deserve sooooooooooo much better
