External finish options for new build timber frame house

I have been researching what external finishes I could use on a new build I'm planning at the moment.

The planners will likely want an element of stone on the front elevation, the rest of the house can be rendered.

Reading these forums a lot of people recommend the Knauf Aquapanel Exterior as a base board for the render, this sounds ideal for my needs. We'll have a cavity between the external OSB and render board as per requirements, then finish the board using the basecoast, mesh etc as per the Knauf instructions.

In terms of incorporating some stone, our architect thought we might have the front elevation in stone but with the bay window in render. For the stone I wonder if I could use a stone veneer on the render board, instead of the render. Will Knuaf approve this usage of their boards?

I'm based in West Yorkshire and by my rough calculations we will have 200m sq of walls to render, if anyone can give me a per sq m ballpark figure to supply, fit and finish the Knauf render boards to their installation specification (minus any stone or stone veneer for now) that would be really useful.

If there are any recommendations on here for particular companies or individuals in my area please mention them as I'll be wanting firmer quotes as soon as I get some more detailed architectural plans.

Correct, I'm in West Yorkshire and welcome any names which can be put forward and have experience with using Knauf boards.

I did a bit more digging yesterday and it does appear the Knauf boards can be used with a stone veneer or stone slip, I'll try and find out how this can be done. I saw in some other posts that runwithscissors is a Knauf man, perhaps he'll chip in with some info! ;-)

Use wallcrete it's printable stone effect render and looks great. Warrior would be the man to talk to.

Sounds like you have already done some good research and have an idea of what you want and what you want to do...... If you have any drawings, details etc, send them to me and I will assist with a Knauf Aquapanel Exterior specification to suit your build - as well as advise detailing and jointing, etc..

There will be guys on here who will be more than happy to quote and advise render finishes and samples etc (there are currently 9 render systems suppliers who nhave tested the use of their renders onto Knauf Aquapanel Exterior - so you have options).... hang tight!

By the way - Wallcrete is an approved render finish onto Knauf Aquapanel Exterior - and will be an excellent option for a stone or brick effect finish to the front of the house (as a minimum....).

It will be thinner, lighter and faster than natural stone and bricks - as well as more cost effective....

There are guys from PICS / Wallcrete on here - as well as their own section to see samples and examples of finished jobs!
