in that second vid is he actually following the toe of his trowel instead of the heel? lovin the mixer it was prob set by the time he turned the gear over

its one coat so its quicker than dot and dab. it just seems wierd how he chucks it at the wall. then theres holes everywhere. then he has to trowel over it THEN rule it. each to their own though

Shouldn't really work with one coat like the guy in the vid is doing.

It's not a good technique to throw blobs on and work it like he did - you risk incomplete coverage and therefore airpockets and hollows in your plaster.
Best way to work one coat is to use the same technique you would your UK first coats - hawk and trowel it onto the wall in smooth strokes = complete coverage with plaster being squeezed into all nooks and crannies and irregularities.
OK - finish is slightly different to what you guys are used to but application should be the same
