Me and my dad were on a job yesterday swapping a bath, sink taps, shower enclosure etc...it was an old style bath that was high and when we removed it all the central heating pipes were just under the lip of the bath, because of this we couldnt put the new bath in and had to start re routing all the pipe work....we both worked till 7pm (my dads 75).....and the tennant rung the landlord to say we are s**t and slow and didnt get it done....explained to the landord why and that id finish it saturday (got the bath and heating operational again) and he wasnt happy so told him to shove it....lost a days pay and got to pay my dad £150 but not felt this good in ages:)

Landlords never happy, the same goes for tenants

I never ever work for landlords. Some are decent people trying to do right by the tenants, but they are few and far between.

Most are greedy b4stards permanently wanting something for nothing and expecting trades to work for nothing while they charge their tenants top dollar for a cr4p place with the cheapest of everything.

For a brief moment and it was brief I actually thought you had finally removed your head from the @theplastermans bottom (y)

On a serious note though, I hate plumbing

Couldn't be said a truer word, I know a fair few of them, most of them bent like a banana

I do OK with customers to be honest as I'm in the fortunate position where I choose them rather than the other way round. If I don't like them I don't work for them. Still get to odd one that's a pain, but no chisellers, tight wads or people who think and invoice is a starting point for discussion.

Did it feel a little like an out of body experience? It usually does with me. Not that it happens often.
Then get in the van, and laugh all the way home!
Like you say liberating!

Plumbing is the devil's work, and no good can come of it.

If you want to add to your range I would suggest tiling and or flooring. Both pay well and if you have an eye for plastering both would be quite easy to move into. Although flooring can be a bit of a test with identifying the substrates for damp proofing, screeding, levelling etc.

I would of ripped apart all my own work and walked out. Done that on a wall I dabbled and skimmed once for a landlord. He moaned that I charged him a full day for 6 hours work and docked me £40.

No worries for me I just smacked the wall a few times along the ceiling line and centre with a nice shovel.

Did I not read the therad right. Are you not getting paid for the days work. And u had to pay your dad. So the landlord got 2 men free for a day.

I'm £300 down and not felt this happy in ages(y)
I know right bizarre feeling isn't it?!
Straight to the pub? That was usually my 1st stop!
The art I think is knowing when to do it and when to not!

Lol maybe you should listen:(

Lol never. I don't even want to be at work. It's bad enough going but some c**t tell me i have to go am not having that. My mate was asking me how much I had for that job. I told him. He was like that is more than I make in a year. U are a lunatic he said can you not keep your mouth shut. I just said how long do you know me. He just said to long.

What's liberating about shafting yourself for money? Couldn't you just have went back and finished it got paid THEN told him not to call you for anything again.

To be fair sounds like you were going to go back and work for free so either way a day not paid. I did the same with a a customer that had me plaster and tile all the hard s**t upstairs (3rd floor), big vaulted ceilings I couldn't even reach properly and all the other nooks and cranny you get with loft conversions including tiling polished porcelain 1200mm x 600mm which didn't fit on my cutter so downstairs outside with a grinder . Told me the big room downstairs wasn't going to be plastered as was gonna do upholstery thingy, I came back later on to do a piddly en suite in the loft and he had got someone else to do the big room, it was s**t and I sorted a couple of bits out went home and decided no more. He couldn't understand and nearly lost the decorator as a contact. But it was worth it. Them jobs people can make you feel worthless and probably best not work for them.

Yeah saturday would have been for free, landlord just said you quoted the job not my fault the pipes were in the way and I would have just cracked on and finished it if it wasnt for the bad attitude of the both of them. anyway little box room to skim today and then onto a 3 day weekend:)

Why didn't you contact the landlord when you'd taken out the bath and seen the pipework and explained that the pipework needed rerouting and it would be more time and money? You've worked for a day for no money. There's nothing clever about that. In fact, why aren't you asking him for the day's money that you have done. You've told someone to shove it and feel that they won't give you the money because of that? What are you on? If anything, he's liberated you a couple hundred quid. Lol
