How much fibres should I put in a render mix, I take it I put them directly into the wet mix in the mixer some say you should put them in the water butt... Talking here about the plastic fibres .. thoughts info please

it tells you on the packet how much to put in..............i put them in the water before put the S&C in the mixer.............other people might differ

Slightly different methods about but all with the similar end product unless u put too much or to less in u cant go wrong. Ive done this loads of times but only done strong mixes for what i was doing ie ponds and pools ect (3-1) mix with additives, sive out the fibres in ur hands or lil bucket and throw in the mixer with the water and sand, then the cement. No right or wrong way i think.

it all depends on what work you are doing. when we put hair or fibres in mortar for rendering on wood lath, we test the mix with a bucket trowel, when the hair/fibre hangs from the trowel like a mans beard it is the correct amount.

We are doing render onto block work(concrete blocks)

3mm if thats the length of the fibres, sounds short. you must have to put plenty in the mix

Just wondering why don't we use these fibres in EWI systems ? it would be easer than the fibre mesh ??

you have different thickness of mesh, like heavy duty on ground floor, to stop the people kicking the finish in. a fine mesh for reveals. etc.
