Light brown on ceiling of a garage conversion, I take it its fireboard. Never skimmed a board that colour before.

Can you see the bound edge that wraps around the edge of the board???

Any writing on the board?

If in doubt blue grit and skim any. Be fine.

Nope, it's a newly converted garage with brand spanking window, door, electrics with fresh plasterboard on walls and a light brown plasterboard ceiling. Never saw anything like it before. The ceiling was the original ceiling and it is not upside down, the only other answer is it's a normal board that has been up so long it's discoloured.

They are probably plank boards which had rounded edges and no need to scrim in theory before skiming, they were usually in 2.4 x 600 @ 19mm thick. Just prime them with betakontakt or micro (watered down) then skim.

Handy Andy boards are brown. Has it just been skimmed and left unpainted :-P
