I know we're all supposed to have one in the van, but I was wondering how many actually carry one? If you do, is it a 'proper' one and in date?

I've got a roll of insulation tape for when I Stanley my fingers...does that count

I've got one in the van and one at home for the kids, it's mainly full of s**t that I'll never use. But it's there just incase.

its a legal requirement to carry one under the hse regulations act 1981 if you employ lads either sub contract or on paye.
plus an accident book, eye wash etc.

I've been on a job lately hard hat, high vis, not allowed to wear shorts bla bla bla all the s**t but we haven't even got soap and hot water on that job.

if your an employer and your not up to date with all legal requirements regarding hse at work your opening your self up to prosecution, its a compensation culture we live in these days.

I'm just subbying but the h&s is a mockery. The contractor pays for his own health and safety consultant to come round and basically ignore anything that could be an issue. As long as we've got our hard hats and high vis on it looks like a professional operation but in reality it's just a joke.

Ive not used the bucket in a while actually!
don't miss the bucket, did Edwards night club in Romford about 15 years ago and had about twenty blokes using one portaloo, it was positioned in direct sunlight and it wasn't being cleaned regularly it was bloody rank felt sorry for the sparks he ran in to have a emergency poop and came straight back out being sick from the smell

I cannot believe this post! Whatever has befallen us as professional plasterers when we see that one of our brethren has become so mentally unstable as to publicly state that he feels "sorry for the Sparks"!!! I can't decide if he needs help or horsewhipping!!!! Shaking head in utter disbelief hahaha

I all ways have one and in date. Because I get them for free. We have a sponsor in the boxing club that gives us them. It's no secret in the club that I keep taking a (lend) of them.

Chainsaws come with a bag of coagulate incase you lob a limb off with your new toy. You'd have to have a think before buying something that obviously causes that sort of damage fairly frequently.
