Make sure you use the steps up the side as that is a way of knackering knees and hips if you dont

Seem ok . Got clips as well so catches cant flick of when moving. Did some 9 n half ft walls other day and I had to tip toe . Felt it next day

Either you are only 4 ft tall or that is a high ceiling??
Feed back please you have got me thinking now??;)
I use stilts very easily not quite sure how Plasterers seem to struggle using them??;)
Think I left it to Late to try stilts. Just find it easier kicking hop up or crate about . On a house where ceiling are nearly 10 ft so needed this. If it was one , one of room we just strap crates to hop up lol

From what I seen over the years maybe only one in five plasterer s can use stilts takes good balance and some balls to use them when you start out and a good bit of practice to master them I am using them over 20 year s and I still be nervous when there up to full height

Totally agree you need to have natural balance when it comes to using stilts..
I’ve used them since I started out and I also know of a 63 year old spread who uses them so we are never to old to start learning lads;)
All plasterers that use stilts will tell you it is much quicker than staging or hop ups ect..
You can cross trowel with ease no trap ends on staging and no up and down movements your legs;)

I used em but we'e cheap end. Could walk on an just couldn' plaster . Was like patting ye head while rubbing ye stomach. I dont cross trowel anyway

I find complacency is your worst enemy when using them now, after so long you can forget the dangers.

Used to have great balance but can’t even walk along kerb without falling of these days lol

I stopped using stilts after having my knee operation and noticing a twinge in the knee when turning quickly. I've even wondered if they caused the damage that led to the operation.
IMO the biggest thing to look out for when using stilts are cables running across the floor.
And remember if you're 'going down' get rid of that trowel sharpish!

I could never afford to keep buying a trowels at the rate I would be falling over

Could have, you had them set wrong I did it with my first set and f**k*d my knee.

Possible I suppose. I just think it's the knee having to take the strain of stopping the momentum of the stilts swinging below the feet as you move about.
My operation was to repair small tears in the cartilage.

I rather fall off a hop up than stilts any day of the week
Never fell off stilt
Ive had mota accidents getting off a hop up than the stilts.
yep I the same m8..
Hop ups can be more of a head f**k then stilts..
Once up on stilts as long as you are safety conscious then they can be more safer than a hop up..
If you ask a plasterer if he has ever fell off or tripped on his hop up then the answer will be “yes”;)

I only ever had the one fall from stilts and it bloody hurt!
If that doesn't learn you quickly then you're thick.
That one fall was caused by getting caught on a cable running across the floor.
It was a reasonable size ceiling and I fell during the first trowel. I didn't have any other way of getting it finished without getting straight back on them.

To me it' like peddles on a bike .I do use clip on peddles as if I come of I dont want to be strapped to bike

I’ve had one fall myself on stilts from exactly the same thing (cable)
When ever I use stilts now it’s a case of sweep up..mix up ..then f**k everything out of the room you need a blank canvas on the floor area or you will end up on your arse..;)
