I have a small job where the builders foreman took on the rendering and fukked it, its smooth floated but not great, I suggest sbr scud, sbr 1 to cement slurry 2 ,then going over with silver sand and cement but I have not use silver sand since my 20s ,any other handy solutions guys

try rend aid pal.... then re render as you would normally, depends how fuked and what mix the builder has done...

Like all jobs, the builder wants magic solution, the clients have moved in now so they are trying not to look silly in front of them, oddly we did all the inside but the foreman in his wisdom thought he could do it good enough,

ummm haven't they already failed as the render has to be redone ? alls i'm saqying is don't worry about the builder looking daft or not tell em what pricks they were for not getting you to do it in the first place,, oh yeah and sting them price wise lol

He pays me well enough, did two big houses for him this year as the were big money jobs and they could not risk the cheaper spread, I get about a grand a week less tax off of him and no pressure . Idiot foreman to think he'd save money swerving us

hi john,, i had to do the same thing about ten years ago, some foreigners ****** the rendering up,, i done it more or less the same as you are going to,, the only other thing i would suggest is to mesh or eml the stress points, i did not, and noticed a crack or 2 around the windows a few years later

tell him that you are going to photograph it as you will never see such a poor job again!
then smack his arse with stainless steel rib lath and 3 coat render.

Do asifs render coats need to be weaker than the builders after the scudd/rendaid or do you work as if it straight on the original brick I.e 4-1 scratch 5-1 top or what ever?

What's wrong with the render just poor finish or blown? Did the builder use correct sand/ ratios/prep.

Maybe fix EML over with long screws throughout into the bricks. So if the builders render blows yours will not fall off.

I wish I had never seen bad render before, London is littered with terrible render jobs ,old school and modern, some people just don't have the hands or the eyes or enough experience,

Same to you Keith, this time next year I maybe new school but I doubt it, happy as I am but at same time knowledge is everything,if I was younger I would love to know the modern stuff ,machines ewi etc, just the bones are letting me down and the lack of profitability and the lack of skilled men to call upon. Best of luck to all filling their pockets honestly and morally

6mm beads john as said I would defo use a thin coat system the top coat comes in buckets mate which I would also push it would look a smart complete job

Never used it before, but willing to try, will the sbr scud help with this, I take it this stuff comes in tubs and you skim it on, it would negate the need for new beads,,? ?
Yeah scud first.
Comes in bags. Mix like multi.
You can either bed lot in mesh and rebead.
Top coat very thin coat and sponge.
Or scud and one tight coat and sponge. Depending how bothered they are

More about how bothered I am really, I like to say , I did that..

Then i would scud. Stick angle mesh beads. Lay a 4-6mm coat. Bed mesh in. With stress pads on windows doors.
After couple days. Lay a tight coat over the top. As in 1-2mm. And sponge finish. I personally think looks better than sand cement.

Would you have to use a primer/ bonding agent first?
