There's 2 sides to a story, not here to defend them, but people who start out nowadays haven't 20 years to establish themselves to get a good rep and jobs out of word of mouth.but It's all a money making scheme, from mybuilder to fmb, all a crock of s**t, but some have no other ways to make ends meet

And that's my point zol...20 years ago it was yellow pages or local rag, now it's internet....not a person in the world got the 20 years experience without starting down in the dirt.....the dirts just a different dirt than it was 20 years back

100% agree amd that is what i said in another reply!

If i was starting out i would also be using my builder!

The point was more after 20yrs of blood sweat and tears id like to think ive done my chasing work years!

I often struggle to get my point across properly but what you said is my point....with a lot of years you don't need it cos your good and get repeats but don't say it's bad cos you don't need it, you would have used it if you were born a little bit later (you said that)....don't tell people it's bad cos you don't need it....it's today's local paper advert

The vat side of it is what it is, 2 jobs you’ll be through it. Can make you lose your competitiveness to people that aren’t is the only downside. Just extra ballache paperwork

Different times different ways. What rankles is the way these sites monitise in ever more devious ways.

True enough, but it does come in useful for moving to a new area or going from cards in to self employed as well as people starting out.

I also think the internet generally has to take up some of the slack left by the massive reduction in the number of people who regularly drink in pubs, and the number of pubs to drink in.

Fair enough, took me a while to read through the thread.
I can't be dealing with the lot so went back labouring, and loving life.:maraca::maraca::maraca::maraca:
No chasing payments, quoting at stupid o'clock, fetching gear, dealing with custards etc and the best is I can choose my own wheelbarrow every morning(y)

That's pretty true, we called it homers. Books in mon-fri homer at the weekend. Thats what kicked off dometics as a viable way for an individual spread to make a living.
