Maybe u should try cpi mate its a lot easier than sand cement but I wouldn't be guarantee! Somthing u aint sure of using . Give it to one of these lads and learn from them

Its not me doing the work mate by my name, so church wot if u were asked the question? Even decoration how long does paint last till it needs new !

LOL what does he want guaranteeing on the paint? is it internal or external rendering?

all paints should come with a gaurantee, as long as you follow there instructions then it shouldn't be your responsibility. Maybe get customer to pick up the paint and get a gaurantee from the supplyer

WHAT guarantee there is paint in the tin?

if you can find a tin of paint that says 'guaranteed for 6 years' youre laffin..
most paints are only guaranteed for 4 years.. have a look on a tub of masonry paint...

or you could just stick one of your advertising boards on his house and pop back every 5 years to paint it for him...

or just offer him whatever guarantee you like, its absolutely worthless unless its insurance backed and by the time its fell off youll prolly have at least the majority of your tools back on the van... always put the expensive gear on first just in case you have to do a runner... :o

or get someone to spray it with mono and just tell him its its magic render endorsed by kevin mcloud off grand designs and it never needs painting....

or just gouge his eyes out so he doesnt have to look at it.. ???

Ok is it a new build house ? is it a re- render hack off job , is it a old brick work house with lime mortar that's never been rendered ? Is a modern home built on a tight price by brickies that used fairy washing up liquid as a plastersizer , is it a timber framed building , is it a coastal property that's south facing , has the property ever had any subsidence or extended without planning permission ? What paint are you thinking of using and how long you going to leave the render before decoration ?

Sorry forgot to add , are you going to add waterproofer to your top coat render ? what sort of temperature are you going to be rendering in , can you trust your mate to mix up to same gauge every time ? are you going to cover the sand every nite , cause cat poo can cause problems if it gets in the mix . What DOES the customer want you to grantee against matey cracking or what ?

SORRY again but if its a 100mm standard cavity build and what wall ties did they use ? because some can fail after about 40 years causing horizonal cracks in brickwork just a thought ;)

Also what size is it? Are you using expansion beads? Are there any large trees close to the property or any large trees that have been removed?

Is it a new build ? if so make sure the roof is tiled first , other wise all that weight when they do go on :o might crack your render .

Regarding the paint, some pliolite masonry paint are guaranteed for 15 years, but there are too many variables that can affect this. Are there trees nearby, which would make any finish turn green within months? Is the job near the coast, as salt air attacks paint. If you are going to offer any guarantee at all, you need to make sure that the plaster is completely dry before painting it. Too often nowadays, new render is painted within a couple of days of applying, and the paint will not last if that is the case.

has the blockwork being allowed to fully cure, is the dpc 150mm off the ground does youre missus like it when you accidently shove youre cock a bit hard down her throat ???

Sky tv men there barsweards they come along with there sds nutter hammer drills on your nice new work , couldnt give a toss about your garentee

Any underground mines, my mate had a situation in Wales where the tunnels were less than six meters below the footway.

What a load of bollox you come up with some crackers do you honestly think for one minute any one believes youve got a mate?

helo there...... well its a hack of and re-render external.. he just asked what kind of guarantee we can offer for the rendering and decoration.. thank's for replies was a bit of a daft question as there are so many factors.. but was just after an overall yes i give 10 years on everything ect

i guess cracking would be the main thing, with the paint he has said he doesn't want to be painting it every 5 years.. he does not want to pay for the pre coloured gear.

here is a pic iv spoken of the job before

What are you hacking it off with, i take it you are using sand and cement why dont you ask the guy who is doing it for you what kind of guarantee he could offer you. looking at the pics there are a lot of trees around the property so cracking could happen depending on the weather over a few years what kind of condition is the existing render in ie cracks should give you some kind of idea and as far as the paint goes we would all love to not have to paint our properties over 5 years.

i will have a small team taking it off with scrabblers/ or hired heavy duty brakers, ill be very much involved in the set up prep and scratch coat, and hopefully top coats its going to be a nice one for me.

well at lest i have an answer on decoration now, "as said on tin"

with the rendering and can give my self some space for errors such as saying some cracks may appear, but if we hold of with decoration as long as poss any settling cracks can be dealt with straight away.

ok think iv found an answer!
