16 inches lol, yeah I know that's the right way just feeling I'm wasting time, got stilts but don't trust them..
More chance of a blinder if your to low from the lid..imo:RpS_unsure:

I'm with you on that I hate being too close to the ceiling.
For me On a standard 2.4 room height my hop ups will be 350mm.
Cant understand why you would prefere it that way ? More slops in ur face ..... Less of a reach ...... And harder on your arms lol
Lol Thats assuming I drop anything carl.
From that height stepping backwards on a long hop up I can cover an 8ft board in one stroke mate, I find that easier then having my head almost touching the ceiling and trying to pass my arm over the top of my head.
Oh and being 6' 7" helps.
Actually I was lying about being 6'7", im 6ft and 7" ;-)

Yeah watching you with a super ted in hand on tippy toes like doing passes on a ceiling 15 odd meters long. Its ok for you ya tall bugger you .When working with you think I am best staying low and sorting the skirting lines out
Hope @Tommy5 will give me a push every now and then as every day im shuffling :RpS_laugh:Shuffling round in the happy chariot gti or sti :RpS_w00t:

hi scottie 5 at 5' 8 I'm never that close to a ceiling :RpS_lol:
im exactly the same I physicaly cant use them and have to use either 2 crates or 2 buckets on a plank and im only 6ft max don't know how they do em id be rubbing my cheek against the skim!!!!:RpS_confused:
I just buy the extra long, 500mm high ali hop ups and cut the legs down 150mm.
You only need cut the legs off straight as the rubber feet have the splayed angles inside them.
Screw the feet back on with some wafer headed screws job done.
that's fooookin genous scottie!!! beats my plank screwed to 2 crates!!!
I just wish someone would invent 1 that' starts at crate height, that goes up to standard and then a setting higher again!!!
or even better a set up like stilts where they go up in inch increments!!!!!
dragons den for someone for sure!!!
Have a look at carobyns website im sure the new dura stilts start at 14" which should suit you mate.
@scottie5 do you knock up one bag at a time or 2 and three at same time? If on large area.
thanks scotie...used to use 15-23 stilts and 18-30 stilts for higher lids at 1 time when I used to have a lad but ive fallen out with them over last couple of yrs since being on my jacks only on domestics these days so theres never to much meterage to warrant em anyhows...
btw what did you use to cut your hop up down with just a jigsaw with metal blade?
Usually I go for a 3 bag mix, lay in with the same gear flatten with the speed skim then depending how I feel maybe have another small one, half a bucket, lay that in then flatten. Good wash out then straight back on it.

Just a bog standard hack saw being aluminium they take no effort at all to cut.
Lol.ive seen more photos of your bucket than my own kids now scottie!!! lol
man after my own heart, I used to work with a spread that would knock up 2 bags in one tub and a 3rd like p1ss in another. He would scratch the first 2 by the time that was on the 3rd bag had picked up and he would lay in with that. He would do that 3 times a day, never broke a sweat
