Heat Proof Plaster

I've recently had my chimney breast plastered with heat proof plaster onto some kind of fireboarding (glasroc perhaps?). The problem is obviously the finish isn't great on the plaster. I have two options that i am aware of.
1) Try and sand the heat proof plaster (I hear this is very difficult as it is so hard)
2) Skim over the heat proof plaster with normal plaster and hope it does not crack.

I am not a plasterer, just after some advice so i am not upto speed with a lot of terms :( But i am desperate for help.

You can't skim it mate not fireproof I would dab hardibaker board over it then fix through seal any joints with fire seal silicone you might be better off painting it with that black fireproof paint but without seeing it it's difficult

I can't put hardibaker board over it as its skimmed flush with my fire :( I guess i need some way of smoothing the finish over as it has bubbles/bobbles in it, does any have any ideas?
I apologise for my lack of knowledge :RpS_blushing: but why can't i get it skimmed with normal plaster over the top?

It will prob be vincas then sorry misread the post could you not resKim over it with vincas skim or you could just resKim with normal plaster but might crack it's only good upto 50c
