Hello everybody I am a plasterer by trade , I have over 20 years experience , I started about 1990, initially I went on an introductory course and then started with small jobs and gained some experience after a while I went to barking technical college on day release and gained my NVQ/ c&g certificate , over the years I worked for many agencies and also private clients in my own business , I mainly concentrated on floating and setting walls , also board fixing ceilings and direct bond to walls , skimmimg plasterboards , fitting coving. At one stage I was also doing a lot of artexing , I have about 40 patterns , although the demand for this has virtually died out now , (people want it removed or smoothed out now),lol.I spent a period of time as a teacher of plastering at a skills centre in Kent , and I worked for a housing association in Chelmsford for over 3 years.I was ill for about a year , my last plastering work was at the end of 2011 where I plastered some ceilings in London (Harrods) a bit posh lol. at the moment I am seriously thinking about getting back into the plastering business , either working for someone or preferably running my own business again. I don't know what the situation is like for obtaining work at the moment ,we are in a recession and I guess it is hard to find regular work.
